So my odo has clocked almost 12,000km and the rear tire is politely barking for a change, just 1mm or so for the thickness to reach the change indicator. I have Battlax T30 EVO in mind ftm but lets hear whatelse can you guys suggest. I heard that certain Zeneos is not a good option. The current OEM Dunlop I say is quite sufficient really but by the thread wear, the middle section of the tire has worn out more while to the sides they're still more life. So Im looking for compound tire with harder mid section.

Im just a casual rider, not aiming for super duper sport tyres as it is useless for touring cruiser style and yea budget is just around RM600-700 only. Thanks for the tips.

From what I read, here are the better ones over the stock Dunlop. Only trouble is whether or not can find here:

Michelin Road Pilot 4
Pirelli Angel GT

"Added 150 miles to the tires today, nothing too major but a nice ride none the less. Stayed out of the twisties but I can already tell they have so much more grip than the stock Dunlops. Small bits of sand and dust had no effect that I could feel, where as the old tires would slip and slide everywhere.

I would highly recommend the Pirelli Angel GTs to anyone looking to switch up from the stock Dunlops."

"I went with a Michelin Road Pilot 4 and now up to just over 19,000kms (9,000km tyre life). Very little sign of wear compared to the Dunlop stock tyre. They grip really well in the cold and wet."

Yes, thank you. Especially for that Pilot Road 4 the cost for each is already RM710 as quoted thru lazada already exceed my budget a bit. Seems the durability is good tho.

get the PR4. good touring tire with superb wet performance.

u can contact chan bikers in FB... they reply quite quick. they are located in shah alam section 15.
https://www.facebook.com/chanbikers/

friend changed 180 size for RM570 there....dont bother with lazada prices. 160 size should be cheaper.

It will upset the characteristic. Furthermore with 160 the grip is just enough, it's just the suspension need some work but that too I can ignore.

The weight will play into acceleration and maybe it might be too close to mudguard.

To add on, might has changes in the speedometer calibration (depends on how Vulcan S measured the speed), and the original RIM width support might not wide enough to hold the extra width of 180 tyre, so the tyre will be wasted by not fully utilized the potential.

Either you change the RIM to bigger width and swing arm or just use the standard tyre size.

Someone put 240 but has to mod the swing arm really. Bro, take a look at the rear brake hose and see if it allows another 1cm. Simply for me, after what happened to my car because of using just 2cm wider has terribly upset the overall feeling then I'm not gonna try for my bike. Am eyeing that MT09 perhaps next year, the soonest, when it matures into another stage then that's my tyre upsize.

Finally, installed Battlax T31 for RM580. Still too early to comment but even with stock Dunlop I have no problem really but itchy to try new tyre/model. Michelin just got Road 5 model out.

Yes still the oem Dunlop. For me stock Dunlop is okay, nothing wrong with it, right? ANother VUlcan S rider in my group who switched to T30 Evo front said there's a definite, better character than stock but really I have yet to see he did something amazing other than cruising and bragging how good his FC is. Even with less grippy nature, I think it's a good limit for D220 and riding safety itself meaning if you try to exceed that then you're already in dangerous zone. Though I might be itchy to try other thing like MIchelin Road 5 etc but wouldn't mind a d220 if budget is tight. I think a pair of D220 will cost only RM500 ish.

Thanks for the feedback. I was more concern of the bike's balance as stability during cornering and in wet condition if using 2 different tyres. It is a pain in the behind to get an 18" front from other brand. Furthermore, if Dunlop front is compatible with other brands, then I might be tempted to remain with Dunlop in front in view that my front tyre is still usable. biggrin.gif

Yea, it's inevitable because the front will last longer than the rear. So far I have yet to experience anything funny, 40km wise.

A slight concern tho that I was lane splitting, there's a pronounce interaction/movement, slightly, when I rode on the white lines which introduced by there rear. Not that I usually did but I think D220 doesn't behave like that so heads up.

Add: I think it's due to harder center section and this is my first hybrid tyres so it feels funny, quite alarming.

Well at least from your feedback, I can gather that there is no adverse reaction from the front tyre despite a different brand back tyre. So, I may be tempted to change just the back for the time being. hmm.gif

Should be better, not worse.

The sides tends to be much softer for performance while the middle doesn't necessarily go harder than standard single compound tires even if it's for higher mileage purposes

Tho it's overkill to have battlax tho. So far with factory tyres is enough for me.

Went with Battlax BT023 for front and Battlax T31 for back. Total cost RM1k but woth every single sen in term of grips and performance.
