I realized that being given the opportunity to upgrade to 50mb package with Ruby package laast time for RM 189 don't seem to be worth it.

Y?
the connection for wifi using old router still buffer even though it's 50mb speed. If viewing video streaming on upper flour is even bad.
I just like to know what other things that is disadvantage to me when using old dlink Dir615 router? Am i maximizing the speed of 50mb or should i request TM to replace a new model which can provide better coverage and speed.

thanks

Typical double storey house... is not a big deal for wifi.

Do not be scared by all the horror stories about interference, congestion, etc.

The tech is there; a good router can do the job well enough.

Tm supplied ones are not so good.

Just u need to spend some money.

Almost every week, someone will post a thread like yours.

Do read what others have just discussed.. the same thing again n again.

Lol I agree with you bro. It seems that we both have to reply to the same questions over and over again every week. TM should educate its users more during and after installation, maybe have a small booklet that explains wifi and what to expect.

not referring to anyone... but the thing is most people CANNOT believe what tm supplied is not good enough when they encounter weakness.

but why is that so difficult to understand?! tongue.gif

tm signs contract to buy in bulk low price, supplier margin pretty thin.

of course they will provide less than ideal hardware n software - any biz would!!

or maybe, rm300, 500 is just too much... simply won't spend the money?

those who change quick-quick gets the most juice out of what they pay every month to unifi!

You nailed the point exactly bro. When I tell family or friends that TM supplied router is not good enough if they want to use Unifi for more than just basic browsing, they get all bent out of shape and start saying that it should be enough and TM should provide the best router. As you say, TM will only provide the most basic router that can do the job and nothing more. If you want more, you need to pay more.

People can spend RM500-RM1000 on irrelevant stuff, but the Unifi in your house is something that you use everyday, so might as well invest in a good router that can last long and enable you to get the maximum out of what you pay to TM, as you say.
