Does 13th month salary/aws consider as bonus?, Some said yes some said no

I said should cukur get 13th month salary but my colik said we deserve it...he angry he only get 3 months bonus exclude 13th month.... He said he deserve min 4 months based on company performance.... Yes or no?

they paid out crazily 12 months bonus to 26 months bonus ...
but in ancient days la, dont think now still got

Some other countries like UK, they are paid weekly. In a year there are 52 weeks. So if you divide 52 by 4 you get 13 months. In HK, salary is paid monthly and some company will pay you 13th month and its stated in the contract.

13 month salary came about as usually there is 4 weeks in a month. So a year will be 48 weeks. Since I a calendar year is 52 weeks hence the 13 month salary.
However most company treat this part of your bonus instead of due salary.

bonus means you get more then what you suppose base your letter of employment
hence contractual bonus is not a bonus

It is somewhat like a 'bonus' as in emolyee completed 1 year/12 months and get a sum of money of 1 month. An expected pay as per employment contract.
But is not an actual bonus where is announced per company and emolyee performance.

Yes or no? under performance staff also deserve this bonus ka? never heard u always ular also can get it, should cukur your boss didn't spotted that complaints 50 cents SGD issue until to MY, if not they will pay u only MYR salary not SGD

it depends on the amount,
if 12 x rm20000 = rm240,000
if 13 x rm5000 = rm65,000
if 13 x rm5000 + 3bonus x rm5000 = rm80,000

Is not bonus, it is due to the week vs month calculation as explained earlier. Certain company do try to excuse it as bonus...

For you to decide whether the 13th month pay is a bonus or base salary, the best way is to look at the marketplace rate for companies of the same size, industry, pay scope and job position.
Look at the similarities and discrepancies in the pay structure and then from there, you can conclude whether the 13th month is standard pay, bonus, or just another way for your corporate bosses to take advantage of you.
BTW, not easy to find a company that rewards on merit. Very rare animal. Also, from the other side of the river, employers find it difficult to issue merit based bonuses, because there will always be folks who get triggered and say boss is playing favouritism or not attentive enough to judge and record their performance and merits, etc.
The sweet spot for performance bonus, rewarding actual performers, and keeping the entire organization happy with the reward structure, is a very very tiny spot.
