wah how u play fallout2 ? i tried to install and play...the bloody world map when i travel it was so fast... the time and everything go so fast, my storyline also fast. my pc p4 2.4g 1g ram too smooth liao for fallout2.
but back to this, yeah! finally lah. like some of u said bos was good but it lacked storyline. fallout1&2 best parts was its story. and nothing like trying to steal a uber weapon from a guard with 'save/load' attempts. hehe. |

OMG OMG OMG!!! Is this true??????? Fallout 2 could easily be one of the best game I ever played in my life!!! I finished it 2 times (consider the size of Fallout 2, I called that an achievement) and I still miss it until today! Please don't make this one into third person shooter or whatver! Keep the 45 degree top down view with full 3D graphics... cant wait to make a female character and can have some "side incomes" in the game, you will know what I mean if you are an avid Fallout fan.... hehehehe

Fallout is one of my all time favourite games man... I read about bethesdesa buying the fallout ip from interplay, hopfully they come out with a game that *will* cater to its fans. Heck man, this was the first game to properly introduce me to RPGs.. Gruesome deaths, AWESOME sountrack (heck man, one of the first things i downloaded back during the napster days) As they say in the tagline.. get married and pimp your spouse for chump change |

man that would certainly suck, if it were to be made into a 3rd person/1st person game... no offense to those who like those type, i love 3rd person but hate 1st person stuff, but i certainly don't want fallout to be like that.
maybe keep the same style of interface and view but with beefed up graphics! that'd be cool. |

At the recent post by one of their designer at fallout 3 forum, i don't think we will ever see any gameplay mechanic close to fallout 2, or even fallout : BOS.

Yup yup, i played all Fallout series also, included the sucky console version
No wonder Interplay went bankrupt after that. Anyway alot of people hate the Fallout Tactics, it wasn't that bad imo. Of course it's not as great as Fallout 1/2 but it's something like Fallout : Lite? Browsing back the lyn.net xbox history, we've quite a few cases of gamer guy attracted to unknown-possible gamer girl with the ratio of 1000 : 1. As for Fallout 3 i just hope Bethesda don't make it too much like Oblivion. Oblivion gameplay feel very linear for me eventhough it look as if it's a big world but the quest are straight forward and the world/level are mostly auto-generated. Most important : Please keep all the adult content, politically incorrect stuff & the grey area of morality. |

The only concern is the graphics here . So graphics wise , since Oblivion in PS3 was quite good , I guess Fallout 3 will appear pretty identical in either platform . Based on my thoughts that Fallout 3 runs on Oblivion modified engine .

Wat happens if this game ends up like "Hellgate London".... so much promise and a successor to Diablo but it was just crappy? I hope not. |

after i watch the trailer, to be honest im a little bit disappointed that this game not really turn base anymore... more like mix of it, but more to first person shooter. I like to take my time playing this games and do stupid stuff other than fighting when in engage mode, but now if u 'malas' to aim at specific point u just shoot them like other fps shooter games...
turn base would be weird to implement in this game coz of first-person view and 3rd person view, i think i can understand that. i gonna miss it alot... |

Looks to be very similar to Oblivion. They can still make it turn-based if they wanted to even if it's in first/3rd person. Look at KOTOR.

i wonder why do they keep the same people for character modelling and animation. bethesda game engines are extremely good but the character animations kinda suck on all of its games dont u think?

Damn... the graphics are so good. I'm a big big Fallout fan and I personally don't think Fallout 3 is gonna surpass its predecessor, but still I think it is going to be great.
Part of the fun in Fallout 2 is looting... man, I got addicted by looting all the drawers, vases, pickpocketing the laser rifle from the guards, minigunned those innocent men and women... oh, sweet sweet memories! |

I'm not too familiar with Fallout franchise, but I know it was as addictive as Diablo. I watched the 5 developer walkthrough (in HD...) and to be honest, I am really looking forward to this game.
It absolutely looks set to be the next 'Oblivion'. Not too sure if the change to first/third-person would bring back the original Fallout fans... |

Sigh... I don't think any game shop will sell this CE until it is confirm region free. Asia only got the normal edition. This thing going to cost a bomb to get it shipped over to Malaysia.

lol ya, very addicting indeed. The game engine feel very much optimized compare to Oblivion. Loading is fast, bringing up the pipboy (inventory menu) is silky smooth. Graphic is alot better than Oblivion too....when I first came out of the vault it's like -- woooshaaa~
Can't compare to old Fallout though, there are certainly some changes which won't please the die-hard fan. |

Anybody know how to look at your character while in-game? In oblivion all you needed to do was to go in to the menus. But since we have the pip boy the only way I can look at the character is by holding the left bumper and panning the left stick. Any other way I don't know about?

I got a quest from Megaton that is to deliver a girl's letter to her family in some other town, and it's so damn far away on the world map. And then the quest to go to the supermarket to find food & meds ... walau got like total 4-5 raiders shooting machine gun & shotgun ... and all I got is a 10mm pistol ... how to fight? |

Don't kill the guy if you wanna fully complete another quest (strictly business).
There's 2 unique snipers which is better than the normal ones (you can buy them from shop anyway), one requires 100 lock skill, one is in some sort of church ruin. |

For comparison, these are weapons i carry around, in 80% condition, alien blaster ~90 damage (short range, great critical rate, cool critical effect), plasma rifle ~45 damage (great critical rate, cool critical effect), assault rifle ~45 damage also (lot more common, can repair all the time), sniper ~35 damage (greater accuracy and critical rate), terrible shotgun ~75 damage (damn short range and slow fire rate).
None of the custom weapons interest me... I'll only build them at end game to complete achievement... |

wow this game is really addicting. been playing it non stop for the past 3 days. now i'm level 16 and trying 2 complete all the side quest 1st. i like how they turn Washington DC 2 some wasteland.

If you bluff straight away, you get no jack shit... If you do the quest, you can get rewards ma... But to get both the VATS upgrade and plasma rifle, you have to get a bit evil karma lo, they are worth it

In Rivet City i want to get to the backpart of the ship. I did some crazy stunt like jump from the flight deck right onto one of the beams on the other side but there's no door or way to get in from there. (after falling to my death many times).
Then i found out there's a side door but its locked and needs 100 lockpick skill to go in. My bro told me have to enter the ship to complete Replicated Man quest. Is there any other way to enter the ship besides getting 100 lockpick skill? Don't feel like wasting so many points to lockpick. |

There's a underwater hatch to go in. Go in the market place from the front door, go out to the exit at the opposite direction, jump into the water, find the hatch.

surprisingly the tesla armour or any of the Power Armor Version are not as strong as the T-51b version of power armor if just compare the armour strength value
and if i am not mistaken the T-51B is the same as fallout 1 power armor as they look exactly the same as those power armor from fallout 1 |

Not only the T-51B has higher DR, it doesn't have AGL penalty like other versions of power armor. But i use the armor only tho, i don't use the helmet becoz there are glasses and hats that have far better stats.

I just started playing the game last nite. Had played all the past titles: Fallout1,2 andf tactics.... I am quite disappointed with this 'Next-gen' Fallout. This game does not meet my expectation and it feels like the developer did not have enough time to polish the overall game structure and have to rush for release date. I personally can only give an overall of 7.5/10.
The RPG mechanic (character development) is as awesome as the previous title: 9.5/10 The graphic is not up to my expectation, the character model is bad the animation is very lazy (not next-gen at all, just like a game released during the age of 'Shadowman' game): 7.5/10 The sound and music is great. Voice acting is good -believable: 8.5/10 An RPG without a good storyline is like a Bobblehead without the head. The story is on the weak side. Fallout 2 and 1 is a lot better.: 7/10 I feel the gameplay is too 'Oblivion'. Sometimes I feel like playing an Oblivion MOD instead of playing a new title.: 6.5/10 The developer should take more time to polish the game instead of rushing for the release date (very close to Gears of War 2). |

just started playing the game 2 days ago...it was very good, but fails to capture the special Fallout1/2 atmosphere..i really missed shooting everything at the groin for one
but things had moved on from those days, so have to accept the inevitable change |

Ya, Fallout 3 is a good game on its own merit but definitely not a good sequel. The humour is gone, the apocolyptic feel is no more (from beginning to end I am like a happy boi
), mutant and ghoul are now consider monster to me...they used to have "soul", hey...there are still human! I have yet to find Harold, but I am not expecting much now.One thing though, they nail the Brotherhood of steel design. When i first met them I am so excited, seeing them in random desert exploration also make me feel safe....like some kind of police.  May the steel be with you! Hoo~Ah! I like Bethesda (The Elder Scrolls series + Jagged Alliance are gggreat), but IMHO i think it would be better if Bioware developed it instead.
oh yeah, iwish they have different bodyshapes for the main character. he/she's too skinny and with a riot helmet on, looks like one of our local policeman that rides kapchais. also, the dialog choices are limited..but at the end of the day, it's still a bloody good game |

Speaking of deathclaw, I have not meet them yet even I've finished the game already. The closest resemblance of them is Yao Guai....please don't tell me those are "deathclaw"... Gona replay it soon, this week suppose to be Gears of War 2 week! |

One way to make sure the vendor have enough caps is to barter. Ie, when u want to buy something, make sure you sell the same amount of stuff back to the vendor.
Also try to repair the repairable items such as weapons and apparel before you sell them. Just stash any extra items in your house/apartment until the next day. On my way to Little Lamplight and I have around 10k caps right now. This post has been edited by MK84: Nov 14 2008, 09:37 AM |

Invest in all caravan merchant in what-burry common town, it'll cost 700 caps each, but it definitely worth it. The lowest caps i've seen they have is 1k+, the highest is 11k+. They can afford to buy every shit you can throw at them. If someone is having problem encountering them, go to the front of the town (the tree there), wait in the interval of 1 hour. For every 3 hours or so, one of them will show up in front of you.
I have 50k over caps at end game. If you have low str, can't carry every loot, after you have cleared the area, drink alcohol, quickly loot every single shit, go back town and sell. |

i have a reasonable repair skill (got the bobblehead early, and use the vualt utility suit) so when i run out of inventory space i start repairing the crap i want to sell, like the raider armor etc. that way i can carry more and i just go straight to moira and dump all the crap there.

there already is a stupid amount to explore... so much stuff everywhere. wish there was a way to upgrade weapons tho, like adding scopes to assault rifles, or increasing dmg or mag size. customisation as opposed to unique named items.

With the bloody mess perk the body will on splode if you land a critical hit.
Use a weaker weapon or get up close hehehe. Or just use plasma based weapons and melt them. |

what other perks you people pick?
i have like 3 points into gun nut...@@ now i'm planning to switch to lazer rifle...but points damn low like 15% only. so not worth it yet...dint know that energy weapons available so early in the game PS: there's 2 brotherhood now? :X:X:X my favourite faction...lol.. |

i played the first time around as a very evil guy. didn't like it as ppl giving me a hard time. kinda hard to do side quests.
i loaded a save from earlier (before i blew up the town, so still good guy) and continued from there. it's been smooth sailing ever since. i noticed when i'm playing as a good guy i got more bottle caps (2-3k) than bad guy (always below 500). plus my good guy character's build is better. heheheh. bad guy concentrate on melee and big guns only. good guy much balanced. |

If you plan your character build very carefully, you can make a omnipotent character, big gun small arm sword stick grenade all can.
The most satisfying weapon is definitely the MIRV nuke launcher. I saved up 30+ nukes then only go kick the butts of the 4 behemoths! 8 nukes at once, damn satisfying! |

Ooopss my bad... i was thinking where i got the my first sniper lol. It's actually located at Rockbreaker's Last Gas, north of Everglow National Campground, south of Five Axles Rest Stop and east of Vault 87 and Broadcast Tower KT8.
Im not sure if that gun inside a box cause last time there is 2 roaches inside a cage and suddenly Jericho pull out a sniper from nowhere and i checked his inventory he got the sniper... sometimes NPC pickup better gun while he/she in engage mode |

Speaking of sniper....are the weapon consider big gun or small gun? My character excel in small gun but everytime when i use the sniper rifle, the damage suckz donkey balls, even my pistol have higher damage!
btw, surf around the web and it seems that int <1 character has no significant impact on the dialogue. |

Victory sniper requires 100 lock pick skill to unlock the damn box... so...
Comparing Victory and Reservist, i prefer Reservist because it has higher critical rate, higher fire rate and doesn't require any skill to get it (except killing the dude that has it la). Victory has higher magazine size and knock down ability tho. Sniper rifle has lower stated damage, but the accuracy is definitely higher and critical rate is double or triple of other guns. |

and with the sniper perk is certainly helps.
i used to hate using a sniper rifle. same reason as PJ stated there. but when i got the perk, everything seems better. oh.. i'm just using normal sniper rifle. have to get me one of those nice rifle you guys are talking about. |

Sniper rifle is considered as small guns. Don't bother using it with VATS. Just aim manually and go for the head. But if you have bloody mess perk, even torso hit will do since your first shot is a confirm sneak critical hit.

any of you found the alien blaster yet? i just found it...damn power!!!
but only has 110 ammo so use wisely! here's how to find it...go to the MDPL-13 Power Station... put on a environmental suit or a rad resistance suit...and just keep walking NORTH. you will come to a place where you will start to get radiation and thats how you know you're on the right track. a little more to the north and you'll see the crashed space ship with a dead alien. ps: BECAREFUL of deathclaws for the under leveled. |

And I find myself super poor this time round. Eh you should be able to find leather or combat armor quite early on.
Anyway I'm using Reily's Rangers' armor. Haven't gotten far enough in this game yet to wear power armor. Here's a pic of me and my Eugene  And ... the limbs flying off can result in some disturbing images ;o  |

i'm on power armors already..at the moment using a tesla armor..gives a big boost to energy weapons.
power armor give me headache la..the brotherhood armor give +2 str but -2 agl... i'm quite the..'sentimental' person..every junk also want to keep and bring with me haha..so + str is good..but have to live with -agl |

yup.
most of the time it's just happened unexpectedly. you will suddenly hear a BOOM on top of your head and something is crashing from the sky. follow along the traces, along the way you will get the ammo of alien blaster. and when the trail ends, you can find the firelance. one guy wandered around for 2 hours before he got that encounter, i've wandered around for an hour usually before i got bored. |

and also easter eggs are not new in the fallout wastelands...
the alien blaster looks nice...but it takes too much rare ammo to be something that is practical for. better off with the chinese assault rifle. had my first death claw today...first few times i was KIA...lol... |

I've done 70 hours... don't know whether to drag it out, I'm kinda delaying the last few story quests and just wandering the wasteland and helping people out, cos I wanna prolong it a bit haha. Still have a few more bobbleheads to find.
i still check every filing cabinet, open every loo stall door, peek in every garbage bin... all for a few caps, even though I don't really know what to spend all the caps I have on... Caravans upgraded, house nicely done, schematics bought... It's just a massive time sink, and I'm enjoying it haha. |

thanks private john for fixing it.
now i have another problem...i met this guy named Ben Canning who wanted water so i gave him a bottle then he thanks me. right now he's only standing outside Megaton where the caravans used to be. he's not moving anywhere! and the caravans aren't coming. what should i do? just shoot him? and micky the guy outside megaton who forever wants water...does it have any use in the game at all besides drinking? haha |

just bought this game at GH. i was really torn on whether i should buy this or the new prince of persia. but i thought this game is more longer lasting... so after i popped in the game, installed it for 10 minutes... i ended playing it for 4 hours straight. it's soooo damn good. and this is coming from someone who didn't like oblivion!

It can't be gained by leveling up, but only through dialogue. * Requirements: Talk Moira Brown out of writing the Wasteland Survival Guide. * Benefit: Reduces an enemy's chance to critically hit you by 50%. Whoa, deathclaw sanctuary is @_@
I got the bobblehead already, now going for vengeance. But even with 100 big guns, I can't even one-hit-kill a deathclaw with a direct-hit missile =_=;; The problem is that my sneak is like 25, so I can't get anywhere near a deathclaw without him/it noticing me ... can't get the first critical T_T so i end up laying mines, go attract the deathclaw then super run past all the mines and hope it gets crippled lol ... super expensive way to kill =_=;; |

have u guys done the tedpenny sidequest. I have actually killed tedpenny in another sidequest but still intend to complete this quest

Stimpaks are worthless anyway. At least for me playing normal, I already have 100+ stimpaks.
Anyway I finally got the Vengeance and it's f*cking overpowered. It's like using a minigun/Eugene, except that where the minigun sprays bullets all over the place, the Vengeance has autoaim so all you have to do is make sure the cursor is generally pointed towards the enemy and ALL the shots connect. |

yeap i agree, once you reach like say level 16 above..everything seems easy to kill..and i myself am also like a one man army, i have way too much ammo for everyhing.

eh, anyone playing the game from HDD experiencing are much frequent freezing problem?
When i was playing using disc, it never freeze on me. This is the 2nd time i install the game...(uninstall once previously) Oh well..gona try Resident Evil 5 demo now. |

I think it's non-hdd related, I have been playing few hours yesterday & now (still playing) without logging to live...no freeze or whatsoever.

1 near GNR Plaza 1 near Jury Street Metro station (need to do certain actions to trigger it) 1 near Capitol Building 1 near Takoma park 1 near the factory at the end of the railroad tracks where u meet the 2nd behemoth near Jury street metro. |
