Is the Huntkey x7 single rail? Most people would go for single/dual rail for high-powered PSU.

i saw greenstar exploded video.... it made me scare.. usually we wont use to max watt rite? eg. 550watt psu, we consume 550watt everyday.. |

During minimal load or moderate we wouldn't use up to 500W. And 5 rails? Hmm..

Have you seen Huntkey X7 900W's review? It's certified 80+ Silver, which is quite impressive. But look at the 12V rails, only 18A each..
VX550W single rail? But then again, 550W seems a bit low for GTX260 SLI. If you're using quadcore, CPU alone already take up more or less 100W depending whether or not you overclock it. I tried HD3870 CF with ST56F and it was no good, insufficient power and made my benchmarks' scores go even lower than it already was. I also noticed CF/SLI can run without crashing eventhough power supplied to them is not sufficient, but the drop in performance gain is noticeable. The fan's loud? Have you checked their temperatures? |

yup i dy saw review for huntkey x7 900w... really impressive.. but just scare it kaboom.. sadly is only have 18A each rail which produce 216watt....
yup mine VX550 is single rail with 41A... my 3dmark06 score only +600 after Single GTX260... so may be as u mentioned is psu problem.... n yes mine is QX6800 oc to 3.2Gz... i din check psu temperature but fan produced high decibel... other component temperature all running fine..... huntkey best in investment? |

Why not get CM Silent Pro M850? Its 850W single rail
Once, I used Xigmatek's NRP-MC751 for 9800GTX+ SLI with C2D overclocked to 3.4ghz, the voltage on 12V1 rail wasn't satisfying, it dropped after SLI. As far as I know, 9800GTX+ single card system consumes about 240W peak load with an overclocked C2D; whereas GTX260 single card system is about 300W peak load with an overclocked C2D. Usually they'd recommend 700~800W 80+/true-power PSU for SLI users. This post has been edited by Silverfire: Jan 27 2010, 11:47 PM |

QUOTE(Riddhy @ Dec 28 2009, 09:33 PM) hello guys i need some advice currenlty i am running Power consumption of 5870 is very much lower than hungry 4870, not too sure if i7 860 is lower watt than 945.Phenom II X4 945 @ 3.00 ghz (stock) Gigabyte 785g Chipset 4 gb ddr2 800 bus 750 gb hdd ATI sapphire 4870 512 mb GC (running at ref clocks) 1 DVD writer Gigabyte Superb 720w PSU Now everythin is running very smoothly i can game any game at 4xaa/16af high to very high at 1680x1050 even some at 1920x1200 its working very fine running for 2 months now so should i change my psu? is it a good psu i got? gigabyte website says its 610w true power i dont plan to OC anything i calculated my psu using antecs and enermax psu calculator it says i need 392 w only with 90% cpu load and 30% capacitor age i plan to upgrade to core i5 750/860 normal h55/p55 mATX mobo 4 gb ddr3 1333/1600 750 gb hdd (same) ati 5850/5870 (or gtx 360/gtx 380) i calculated again with above specs with 5870 and i7 860 at 90% load and 30% aging it says 377W ??!! hows that possible ? does power consumption of 5870 and i7 860 lower than 4870 and PHII 945 3.00 ghz?? so should i keep my current psu? or upgrade? if i keep it i plan to keep it for a year running i7 860+5870 is it ok? also upgrading from phII 945 to i7 860will i get that much difference? or should use ph II 945 for a year until 32nm quads arrive? I don't see any problem for your Gigabyte Superb 720w PSU for the current and proposed vga/cpu combinations in terms of wattage.1 to 2 years more probably is ok. But gtx 3xx, better think thrice lo.... going for 32 nm cpu.... its even much more power saving! |
