Just bought a AC18. Liking it so far.

BTW, what is your experience on WIFI speed after flashing merlin or tomato? Same speed like stock firmware?

My current firmware is v15 and I think you guys uploaded the V18. Any improvement with V18? BTW, why this router dont have QOS? It only has bandwidth limiter to limit certain connected IP. Really hope can be like Tomato which I tried for my Huawei WS880. Guest network can assign other IP that I can apply bandwidth limiter for all those connected to the guest network.

I feel like wanna try Tomato but afraid the wifi performance will be poor compared to stock firmware.

Great Wifi speed after merlin. FreshTomato very not ideal, speed slow, range small. Just dont use tomato.

Wow... this router is still going strong.

Just saw a video that guide how to change upgrade to AIMESH but damn hard to find the files. Anyone got the files to share? I got 3 units here still running on stock. Did consider upgrading router but recent routers really sucks with only 2x2 on 2.4GHz which I need for wifi switches and tplink cameras in my home.

Finally have some time to flash mine. Took 2 hours to flash the first one. Forgotten so much stuff and how to enter CFE mode. The second unit is much faster.

Finally test the aimesh and bloody hell it wouldn't work wirelessly. After some googling, using the lan to wan to pair them first works like charm.

Try to boot into CFE mode, see can or not first.
If yes maybe can try flash the default the right Firmware.

Need alot of practice to go in CFE.

Sorry I can't remember that well.
Something like
1) disconnect power cable
2) make sure your PC set to manual IP,  192.168.1.XX or 192.168.0.XX.
the 1 or 0 depends on router default.
3) on your PC keep running ping 192.168.1.1 (depends on router previous default set)
4) connect the power  (make sure ON button stay on before power ON) + same time pressing reset button for either 20 or 30 sec until your ping detected.
5) after detected quick login to router IP, 192.168.1.1
(note CFE boot will close if does detect login within X secs). Then you have repeat again.

This is just roughly what I rmb only, don't shoot me if it doesn't work.

Since I just done it, I'll share. It's pretty easy to get into cfe.

1. Set your lan ip to 192.168.0.1 and then click advanced and add a secondary ip 192.168.1.1
2. Power off the router
3. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the router using a paper clip. Power it on and count to 30 seconds before releasing the reset button.
4. Open chrome. 2 tabs. 1 ping 192.168.0.1 and the other ping 192.168.1.1
5. Keep on pinging on both tab until cfe appear.
