Hey guys, the link to the stock MY firmware on Page 1 is dead. I've uploaded the firmware here:

Yes you can, it won't break your router.

Update: Running AC18 with latest firmware 384.18 with AiMesh now, need to modified CFE.

Can you give a quick guide on how to modify the CFE?

My router with old Merlin got attack by the Russian botnet. I tried searching on how to edit CFE and update to the latest Merlin but I got nowhere. 4PDA links seem to be down.

So I decided to try Freshtomato firmware instead. Seems really good so far, just need to set your own VLAN for Unifi. I like the minimal interface. So this is a good alternative to Merlin if you just want something other than stock firmware.

I tried freshtomato before, noticing worse wifi performance and range that's why I stayed with Merlin that time. the most important is the AiMesh features don't want too many SSID around with auto roaming feature.
However, I didn't use Tenda ac18 for years already. switched to AC86U back then.

I see. I've read that they've fixed the Wi-Fi signal issue recently but I don't really have any point of comparison from before. But it works fine for my family.

Same here, my AC18 is actually in my parents' house. Using AC86U as my main right now. But seriously, this AC18 is still very capable after all these years. The newer AC23 is not big of an upgrade vs AC18. It even has less RAM and ROM vs the AC18.
