So I might as well just stick to stock firmware if I don't need all the bells and whistles from Merlin firmware?

Hi guys, my Merlin AC18 been running for a week now, one issue that has pop up for me is using VPN service on my mobile devices. When connected to VPN apps (I’ve tested with NordVPN and ExpresssVPN) the download speed is unbelievably slow like 2-3 Mbps only. Upload speed is ok.

Then I tried to change back to stock UNIFI Tplink C1200, internet speed when connected to VPN service was fast.

May I know any settings within Merlin firmware that I need to tweak to solve this slow VPN issue?

Any Sifu here can walk me thru how to disable ipv6 on ac18?

I agree, I have both NordVPN and ExpressVPN. Express VPN much faster. Stock TM C1200 TP-Link router can go up to 30Mbps but on Tenda AC18 it becomes 2-3Mbps speed.

VPN connected via iOS app on smartphone. Not within router.

Clearing the nvram is a big no, same goes to pushing the reset button.

i never tried koolshare, i was on merlin last time. bricked my unit in less than 8 hours from unboxing it.

Anybody have issue with Tenda setting ports? =_= my game Dying Light needs some ports to connect peer-peer but it stays closed even when I've set up in Virtual Servers.

Having difficulty opening ports so thinking to try merlin firmware instead, do you think this will help?

I already bricked with merlin, when i clicked reset factory setting the router cannot use anymore. only power & wan led got light, other led not blinking. Tried Recovery Mode/miniCFE Recovery method, didn't work. It won't boot to that.

Any help anyone?

The reason why i bricked because my LAN speed doesnt achieve 500mbps with stock firmware...tired with rebooting tm router, router reset etc...when use merlin all go smooth but 5ghz wifi not functioning

So once u factory reset bricked ac18 cannot save that router already? really no other way?

On stock firmware, now already few months using. Noticed recently always got dropped connection on 5ghz network and/or speed slowdown to like 1mbps only. 2.4 ghz ok. Anyone same issue?
