Hello all ~

I've read trough all 11 pages of your comments and feedbacks on life working at the cold cold place genting highlands.

Well let me tell you about my life experience working there..

Being a college student, during my semester break, I went to Genting and randomly applied for some job but later on was offered working at Front Desk at first world. To me, working at Genting is full of adventure and fun! In fact I miss working there. I just love the working environment =D.. the coldzy breeze breezing me at night / during the day.. ohhh I just love it so very much. Besides that, I love to sit down at star bucks/coffee bean or simply just walking around watching loving family, couples goes by..

I just love the quiet nights ^-^ ..

I was ffk by a friend who was supposed to join me working at Genting.. but well, I managed to make new friends over there from my work place and also my room mates.

The place where I stayed was at first world hotel itself. Though it’s the cheapest room you can find at first world hotel, it is not that bad though =)) .. about 2 – 4 people to a room. Depends.

And speaking about adventure, I had senior friends who actually try to sneak me in the casino. We all in fact tried to sneak in the casino but the entire attempt failed (not!) laugh.gif yay rclxm9.gif , we did crazy stuff like; sneaking in the theme park at mid night. (We planned at 1 am to meet at theme park main entrance). so fun! .. again, I miss those good old days !

Working environment is good too where you won’t be fix working at one station only. It’s always changing. You’ll be posted at check in counter/ tour counter/information counter/kiosk counter/ etc. and speaking about information counter, some mother with kids will come up to you asking weird question you may never know how to answer. Lol.. Or some may even come up to you asking where is first world when they are actually at first world *sweet drops*.

Speaking about food, it’s quite reasonable. RM3.50 for a plate of chicken (drumstick) rice =) and food are below RM5. .. And ohh btw, I was working back in year 2006. Also, working during school holidays/ public holidays, your pay will be double or triple up. My pay was like 1800k (not that bad eh?).

Overall I love working there. Your off days are usually 4 days in a roll, your work shift starts at 7am, 11am, 2pm, 7pm(can’t really remember), thus, it can help you save $ (as in really save big time!) . Heard that after 6 years working, you’ll be promoted to manager post. First world hotel itself has close to 200 staff.

if there’s one word to describe my life working at Genting, I would say AWESOME !

Ps/ all thanks to that ffk friend that introduce me to work there icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi,

of all, why as croupier? why don't you go for front desk office? money is bigger and faster to climb than working as a croupier with no qualification needed if you don't have one. As a croupier, you smell smoke everywhere everyday ! no doubt, the pay is higher but all in all, front desk office at first world hotel pays more. (that's what i heard from one of my manager friend)

1800k. (depends on season. in the month of november - february usually the pay shoots up to 2k++ then again, depends). basic is RM699. You won't go lower than 1700k anyway (never happen in history. my update in 2006).

safari prefer to employ part - timers cause its cost saving. thats what I gather.

from the other point of view, croupier income rate highest (without qualification if you don't have one). Second in line would be first world. But at the end of the day, you need to pay off your medical bills when you fall ill due to the smoke! the pay I think is 2k and their salary is fix. But now increase or the system changed alrdy I guess? my update is on 2006. Was working at front desk & then at pr side. I enjoy working at both department equally.

ok like this what i remember the guy that interview told me.. for my croupier position, i wil get basic 1.5k before deduct epf, and wil have 5 days off day per month.. if i decide to work on off day, its gonna be double pay, and tats gonna be around 100+ per day so 5 days will be around 500+ he say. And also wil have incentive.. But the incentive he dint tell me how much.. And also can take O.T but must apply myself a day before, and he dint tell me how much per hour for O.T also.. Thats the only infomation that i get last month.. h ya, and he also told me that half month get salary then the end of the month get o.t,incentive. <<if im not mistaken.. peace..

I just finish my STPM exam and wondering to get a job in Genting for gaining myself some others working experience.
With my qualification now, there is not much job in Genting that I can apply,do you guys have any suggestion for me? Is there any others position that I can apply other than croupier? Don't really like to be a croupier...

Go to http://www.rwgenting.com/career/default.htm and click on "Join Us Now" button.
There is a list of vacanies available there. You can apply it online by depositing your resume from the website provided above. It may take for at least a month (or more) then only you will feedback from them (if you are in their shortlisted list). My advise is, while apply for this, try to hunt for other jobs as well.

If you like the life in Genting (all activities are there, besides cold weather), then you try it out and see whether you like it or not. Good luck then.

Perhaps now and later is peak/super-peak season (X'mas, New Year, CNY)... so I think they need a batch of people to cater their services, like Food & Beravage (F&B) outlets, Indoor/Outdoor Theme Park and many many other places.

If you wish to earn some GOOD pocket money during holidays, perhaps you can try it out now.

Indeed yes, don't know why it takes such a long time to process (many applications perhaps?)
If you intend to work for a short periods of time, I think croupier or other vacancy is available... many younger kids work there during this season.
Good pocket money (like earlier posts mentioned), double-pay... only available to those who work in Operation Dept.
How to apply ? There is a walk-in (Open) interview every week... can't remember which day is that. You can always call up Genting HR Dept to check on the exact day.

If you wish to take up the challenges, perhaps work in Genting can save up a lots... if you know how to save.
Basically lodge and foods are provided.... of course food is with certain amount per month. As compare to downtown or other places, definitely you have saved some already.
