Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said Barkley was "a player we have long admired, and are certain he will prove to be an important player for Chelsea."

QUOTE
She added: "He possesses outstanding technical and physical attributes, matched with good experience of the Premier League and a strong desire to succeed at the highest level.

"We welcome him to the club and look forward to seeing him in action."

Clearly it was Maria or the club's choice not Conte. hmm.gif

LIVERPOOL mayor Joe Anderson has called on the Premier League and Football Association to investigate Ross Barkley’s move from Everton to Chelsea.

Barkley today completed a £15m move to Chelsea, putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year deal at the Premier League champions.

QUOTE
Everton agreed a £35m deal with Chelsea back in the summer but the move collapsed on deadline day, effectively costing the Toffees £20m.

And Anderson wants the FA to investigate his agent’s role in the deal.

The Liverpool mayor also believes Barkley would command a fee of £50m in today’s market if he wasn’t out of contract in the summer.

Anderson posted in a series of tweets: “I will be writing to @premierleague & @FA calling for investigation into the circumstances around the transfer of Ross Barkley between Everton and Chelsea.

“Agent pulls transfer on deadline day of £35m, [he] doesn’t play again, transfer 4 months later [for] £20m [less].

“Everyone knows Barkley is worth at least £50m in today’s market, don’t mind him going but Club and fans being ripped off.

“Both [Romelu] Lukaku and [John] Stones not homegrown talent left Everton and we got a great price, Barkley home grown player has left and has cost EFC £20m at least.

“There is no defence for me of him, he could have signed a longer contract and still left the club.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger BANNED for three matches after referee comments

The Gunners boss has also been fined £40,000 for his behaviour, the FA has announced.

In a separate case, Wenger has also been asked to provide his observations on what he said about penalty decisions which went against Arsenal in both their matches over the festive period.

A statement from the FA read: "Arsene Wenger will serve a touchline ban for Arsenal's next three matches after he was charged with misconduct.

QUOTE
"It follows an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today at which the Arsenal manager admitted that his language and behaviour in the match officials' changing room after the West Brom game on Sunday was abusive, improper and questioned the integrity of the match referee. He was also fined £40,000."

Referee Mike Dean awarded West Brom a late penalty for what he adjudged to be a handball by Calum Chambers.

But Wenger didn't agree and criticised the official following the match.

The Arsenal manager will now have to watch on from the stands as the Gunners travel to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and Bournemouth in the Premier League.

In a press conference earlier this week Wenger said some referees were in the dark ages.

"This is the 1950s, where the guy talks to him: 'If you're not nice, I might punish you.' Come on, let's not waste time," he explained.

"What does it help for the game? Nothing. Nothing happens. People want crisp, sharp action, and the referee has to make sure that that happens.

"They want to see: 'Come on, let's get on with it and play.' That's our responsibility. We don't live in the dark ages."

Why happy? Arsenal fans will probably tell you it's a good thing Arsene won't be on the touchline.

To don the number 8 is a heavy burden, just ask Oscar about it.

The number has been worn by Gus Poyet and Frank "Legend" Lampard. I dont mind if the club want dont want to retire the no 8, but I think Rossis not suited for the no 8 in Chelsea FC.

It is like no 7 for United, Cantona, Beckam, Ronaldo. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

+1.
He is not Conte or Mourinho style giving instructions to players constantly from bench. Most of time he'll sit beside his assistant or went to 4th official complaining the ref decisions only. Ada @ xda there doesn't make any different. laugh.gif

why so cheap? Barkley case.

previously quoted at 50mil Ross Barkley was one of the hottest prospect in English football. Last summer transfer window he was in his last 12 months contract so Everton decided to let him go to Chelsea for 35mil, had his medical but failed or chelsea not satisfied. Fast forward the next this transfer window, Barkley in his final 6 months contract completed his move to Chelsea after recovering from the injury.

for a player that only have 6 months left in his contract Everton should be happy to get 15mil out of him because he can just stay and leave for free next summer.
