Carroll has been involved in many off-the-pitch incidents in his career. On 14 September 2008, he was arrested by police in Newcastle, and later accepted a police caution.

On 7 December 2009, he was arrested in the aftermath of a nightclub fight, again in Newcastle, accused of smashing glass in a man's face. He was charged with assault and in October 2010 he pleaded guilty to common assault and was fined £1,000. He was also ordered to pay £2,500 compensation.
While on international duty with the England U-19s, Carroll and teammates Scott Sinclair and Ryan Bertrand were sent home from the squad after breaking a curfew on 14 October 2007 during preparation for a match against Romania U-19s.
In March 2010, Carroll was allegedly involved in an altercation with teammate Steven Taylor during training that left Taylor with a broken jaw. Carroll reportedly suffered a broken hand in the incident, and shortly afterwards he was photographed at a pop concert with bandages to both hands. Then Newcastle manager Chris Hughton, club representatives and both players declined to comment any further on the incident and no charges were pressed.
On 18 October 2010, Carroll was charged with assault in an incident with his ex-girlfriend. Claiming self-defence, and having given a local hotel as his address, Carroll was granted bail on the condition that he resided with then Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan until the case resumed in January. The charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence. Two days following his bail, Carroll's car was set on fire while parked on Nolan's driveway, with the club captain's garage door also being daubed with obscenities.
Following England's 1–1 draw with Ghana on 29 March 2011, England manager Fabio Capello told Carroll to curtail his drinking habits. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish responded by saying, "Well he's never bought me a drink. I've been with him at Boyzone concerts and he's still never bought me a drink!"
In an interview in April 2012, Carroll admitted that he had gained a reputation for drinking and socialising during his time at Newcastle, but that since joining Liverpool in January 2011 he had "settled down" and changed his lifestyle.
Chelsea approach West Ham about signing Andy Carroll on permanent deal Chelsea have formalised their interest in Andy Carroll by approaching West Ham United about signing the striker on a permanent deal.
By Barney Corkhill, Assistant Editor Filed: Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 23:01 UK Last Updated: Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 23:03 UK West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has reportedly told the club that he is unable to train due to an ankle injury, despite scans revealing no problem.
The 29-year-old striker has missed West Ham's last three games through injury, including Tuesday night's FA Cup win over Shrewsbury Town as the Hammers needed extra time to battle past their League One opponents in a replay.

Carroll has been linked with a move away from the club this month following reports that Premier League champions Chelsea are interested in taking him on loan.
West Ham boss David Moyes has insisted that there has been no contact from Chelsea over the target man, who has 18 months remaining on his current deal.
However, The Mirror reports that Carroll has delayed his return to training due to concerns over an injury, while the club believe that the striker could be fit enough to rejoin the rest of the squad.
Carroll has started just three Premier League games under Moyes and has two goals in 14 appearances for the season.
What's with your club guys? One year won title then next year sack manager and another year seek another manager?
Last time ppl keep blaming on Mourino but for what i see now it's nothing to do with him another. Is it because players or the culture or Russian boss??
In Russia drivers using gun for road rage against other drivers, in football owner using sack power to eliminate managers.
Chelsea fan creates damning seven-minute YouTube video to explain why Tiemoue Bakayoko has been so poor - complete with diagrams and clips
Tiemoue Bakayoko's difficult start to life at Chelsea has been summed up in a damning seven-minute YouTube video made by an angry supporters.
The former Monaco man signed in the summer for £40million, but has felt the wrath of Chelsea fans on a number of occasions after some poor performances in midfield.
In order to fully explain the difficulties Bakayoko has faced, one supporter has gone a step further, creating a lengthy video explaining every problem in depth.
YouTube user 'Nouman' lists five separate points complete with full explanations, diagrams and match action clips to explain exactly why Chelsea fans should be angry with the expensive midfielder.
Beginning with 'no recovery runs', the supporter draws arrows and circles to explain exactly where Bakayoko should be in certain passages of play, explaining how other players perform his jobs better than he does.
'Holding on the ball' is next, complete with plenty of clips of him being dispossessed, before 'passing', 'tackles' and 'finishing' are all touched upon.
Towards the end of the clip, the word 'CONCLUSION' flashes up, before a hugely damning summary to concisely sum up his points.
'Fans only support you when you show intensity and willingness to give your best on the pitch,' Nouman writes. 'But Bakayoko surely lacks intensity and he needs to improve almost every aspect of his game-play.
'Chelsea most of the time look like a team who are playing with 10 men because Bakayoko doesn't help anywhere on the pitch.'
This season, the Frenchman has played 30 times in all competitions, with Conte certainly getting his money's worth, but Bakayoko's performances have left a lot to be desired.
He will be expected to improve in the second half of the season... but if he doesn't, you can surely expect 'Nouman' to return with a sequel.

Andy Carroll faces injury spell, ending links to Chelsea - reports
Andy Carroll is set to stay with West Ham this winter as he faces at least a month out through an ankle injury, according to multiple reports.
Carroll has been linked with a move to Chelsea, but now any move in January appears to be unlikely after a scan reportedly revealed the severity of the injury on Thursday.
Surgery is among the options being considered and, if the 29-year-old Carroll underwent an operation he would be out for months, rather than weeks.
Hammers boss David Moyes is likely to address the matter in his news conference on Friday ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash at home to Bournemouth.
Earlier this week, Moyes had denied that West Ham were ready to sell Carroll, who has not played since Jan. 4 against Tottenham.
"At the moment Andy has an ankle injury," Moyes said on Wednesday. "He had an injection around 10 days ago and we hope that will settle and he will be available again as soon as possible."
The news of Carroll's injury may change West Ham's plans for out-of-favour forwards Javier Hernandez and Diafra Sakho. Hernandez is a loan target for Besiktas, sources told ESPN FC earlier on Thursday.
Moyes was at Chelsea's FA Cup replay with Norwich on Wednesday night, apparently watching Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi.
Batshuayi scored Chelsea's first goal in more than five hours, but his overall performance was underwhelming as he frequently squandered possession.
