I am seriously considering the Mi A1 as my next phone. My Redmi Note 3G is about 4 yrs plus and still working, but should need replacing soon. Am very out-of-date with the latest phone developments, so please bear with me.

Questions:

1) Does the Mi A1 have the "double tap to wake" feature? I would like to have this feature on my next phone.

2) How long will Xiaomi update the phone for? 2 yrs? What happens after they stop updating? Will i have to go the custom ROM route?

3) Does the rear camera bump present any problems? Can that bump be cushioned by a cover? I often leave my phone flat on my workdesk.
No prob if useingcasing. Rear camera will not be same level as casing.

4) Can the phone be unlocked using other methods other than the fingerprint scanner?
Yes, PIN, pattern, password, swipe, face, voice, place, smart device.

5) I can get the phone from Xiaomi's Lazada shop or at the Mi shop in KLCC, but I have noticed other sellers offering sets with Xiaomi Malaysia's warranty at cheaper prices...is it advisable to buy from them?
I had bought 3 phones from Lazada. no problem so far. make sure it's from local company selling MY set (Global version) with Xiaomi MY warranty.

Help... I just got this phone a week ago and finally i try update the phone. During the last part it prompt to restart the phone so i continued and now for about 15 mins stuck in this screen

Any of you guys have experience with water damage? Had my MI A1 checked for overheating & batt drain. I was informed there was water damage and marks in both sim tray and charger port... The thing is I haven't dropped it in water or spilled water on it. I only had it for a week. What's the possible cause for this? I was told it may be due to the phone sweating, when put in hot or very cold environments. Any experience similar to this one? :/ If yes, know anyone who fix this issue on reasonable price?

It is cheaper. I will str8 away root it so i dont bother on warranty. Just curious what are differences btw imported and original msia set that listed at lazada 11stret

Guys, anyone noticed that in Oreo, by default volume rocker controls Music Volume instead of Ringer Volume?

Previously it was default to Ringer Volume, unless you had a media playing in background.

Got a question to ask. The phone comes with one USB A to USB C cable.

Will my phone charge faster if I use a USB C to USB C cable on a power bank compared to USB A to USB C cable on a wall charger?

I thought that too, but mine is set to Media Volume by default. I'm rooted with Xposed and Gravitybox, but I didn't swap the volume control.

Actually I have no problem with it, it just weird that it behaves like this suddenly.

Edit: ah false alarm, restarted the phone and it's back to Ringer volume. Been weeks for not restarting my phone

my A1 is too sensitive on the touch screen. example:
I. i kept the phone in my pocket, when it rings, the moment when i tried to get it out of my pocket, it will answer by itself (accidentally slide-to-answer)

II. during a phone call, even with the screen off/dark (becos it's next to my ear, obviously)
it will always do 2 of these things:
1. turn on airplane mode by itself (hence the call got cut-off)
2. turn on the torchlight by itself (sometimes i don't even notice the torchlight is on until the phone has becomes so hot, then only i realize)
*i just don't get it why, if the touchscreen is so sensitive, why it's always just the torchlight & airplane mode which are activated, but not others.

and sometimes during an incoming call, whenever i want to answer, the phone will ask me to unlock. only then i can answer the call. and recently, the phone auto restarts by itself & has happen few times..

all these issue has become an annoyance on daily basis   

My phone always happend this:
1. turn on airplane mode by itself
2. turn on the torchlight by itself
3. on apps automatically

any solution?
