Spare parts is a real pain. It's hard to look for and expensive too.
If u're buying an A/T, go for the 1.8 as the 1.6 A/T is really underpowered. Fuel consumption is about the same as many other cars. |

Yup, body parts are a pain the arse. Friend had it (the 1.6 auto) for 5 years, other problems were solved but watch for leaks (it's frameless, so check the frame seals). There are 2.0 V6 halfcuts, and rear cuts too - upgrade potential.
1.8 should be ok, but don't go for the 1.6 (A). Truly, his current W202 C220 (A) consumes less fuel than the 1.6 (A). |

HuH? body part hard to find?
What is half cut n rear cut? sorry,i'm just too new on owning a car. This will be my 1st car. U mean upgrade it to 2.0 V6 will be better? can i just buy a 1.6(A) then upgrade it to 2.0 V6? how much it will cost roughly? BTW,market price for a 97 1.8(A) around rm20k? |

RM20k for the 1.8 (A) is cheap. I think no need to upgrade.
Half cut means front portion of the car which includes full engine parts. Some comes with dashboard and some doesn't. |

the lantis 1.8 is good enough, sufficient b8 power.
but mind you the older mazda engines consumes bit more petrol, but gives out good power. you can source out for half cuts & rear cuts, those are the vehicles that has encounter unsaveable accidents that causes them to be chopped of half of it's body. parts are quite rare, but can find. also not expensive, parts wise. however the popularity are increasing, so watchout for the prices. |

QUOTE(Kerry1136 @ Apr 27 2007, 03:52 PM) IMHO, maintenance wise is quite easy when you know to source out the engine parts. Quite the problem is with the bodypart, but the built is good so wear & tear is not very much of an issue, provided checked thoroughly b4 buying the vehicle. Some parts can mix & match with Mazda Familia Neo & even Ford Laser Lynx 4-door hatchback / sedan.Chassis is very durable & not easily distorted, too. Once you own the vehicle you can check the car's stuff & issues with mazda / ford bros... Just saying based on my experience & observation of a friend owning a ford lynx.. converted engine 3 times already... B8 180, B8 210, and now currently housing KF-ZE |
