Because not many bugs compared to Android
*
Well, initially there were reports of unexpected crashes and such, possibly due to apps not being optimized for the X yet. Anyways, good to know it’s minimum. We used to get all sort of “gates” every iPhone launch - antenna gate, bend gate, scuff gate, etc laugh.gif

I’ll decide to change the battery whether or not I change to iPhone X Plus.
*
Yeah, I'm more likely to change phones first before changing batteries biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Uchiha_Itachi1991 @ Jan 2 2018, 11:55 PM)
i used otterbox defender before for my note 5 and i hated it so much... waay to bulky for me...
*
QUOTE(maserati @ Jan 3 2018, 12:04 AM)
Yea I've never liked the defender series. The silicone outer piece is a lint magnet and makes keeping and pulling the phone out of your pants pocket a real pain. The commuter is much better as the outer hard shell actually helps in maneuvering it in/out of your pockets. However the cut out for the Apple logo is exposed, which is strange.

The new pursuit series was meant to be an in between case, supposedly giving you the best of the defender and commuter but with a lot less bulk than the defender.
*
I last used the Defender for my iPhone 4S and it really made my phone feel like a brick, ha ha ha... since then I've used Symmetry and Commuter series on my iPhones 6 and 6S Plus, they seem to provide adequate protection already. This Pursuit looks interesting. Will check it out but most likely won't buy it at RM319 biggrin.gif

I always wanted to get the saddle brown leather, but the lack of protection at the bottom puts me off though.
*
That's the one reason why I don't go for Apple's leather case too smile.gif

Unfortunately most if not all the other leather case manufacturers also leave the bottom unprotected.
The only leather ones that are fully protected isn’t fully leather but has a polycarbonate sides, e.g Nomad.
*
True, but I generally avoid those as well, haha. Guess you can't have it all biggrin.gif

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Jan 3 2018, 04:45 PM)
I have the Note 8 too. Battery drain is still an issue with TW, as usual.  yawn.gif Thats why I am more onto the Oneplus phones for android right now.
*
Managed to toy with the OnePlus, finally. It’s not pure Android per se, right? Anyways, that was a friend’s phone so have no idea how is the battery life in real life application based on my usage pattern. But the pure Android phone I'm using now basically runs circles around the 2017 flagships that I’ve tried (S8, S8+, U11 and Note 8) in terms of pure battery performance. Sure, everything else is inferior but it makes me wonder how cool it’d be to have flagship specs running pure Android. Oh well, too bad no Pixels here.

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 3 2018, 04:50 PM)
ok...another one telling me not to go for note 8... thanks bro lol, initially I was quite keen to get note 8 as 2nd phone but now I think im sticking more towards another ipx...safe bet..
*
The Note 8 is a great phone for what it can do, and it’s a far smoother experience with 6GB RAM on board compared to the S8 and S8+, but if you don’t use the S-Pen that much, then it won’t amaze you for too long, ha ha. I sold mine off in 3 weeks laugh.gif

Anyways as you mentioned, you already have the X, might as well try something different since you’re gonna buy it on a subsidy anyway. No point having 2 of those iPhone X, or is there? Ha ha biggrin.gif

I'm definitely not a fan of spen...from my experience with note2/3/4/5, I almost forgot about having a spen....I'm always skeptical about imported sets but this time about, I might go with the pixel 2 xl....
*
But you can't get any discount on Pixel 2 XL coz it's not offered by our telco biggrin.gif

QUOTE(vickyrao @ Jan 4 2018, 07:28 AM)
agree on the S-Pen. The one thing i use alot especially when taking down screen off notes. very useful.

however it solely depends on the user... if the pen is a requirement or not. if it is not, then note 8 should not be the only choice out there. though i agree it is one hell of a good looking phone. except the battery part. sad.gif
*
Yeah, agreed.

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 3 2018, 10:08 PM)
Yea 12w and 29w has very little diff, not worth the $$, but I'm wondering 12w with USB c vs 12w with lightning...what's the diff lol
*
I wonder if there is a big difference between the 10w and 12w chargers though? The older iPads came with a 10w charger, like mine (iPad Air 2).

Update for those following my battery usage:

Note 8 vs IPX
Bluetooth off on both devices as its unfair since my Note is connected to my GearS3.
IPX using WIFI at office but note 8 on Data

So far, after full charge it has been about 3 hours.

IPX: 45minutes screen time, 94% battery left. (Facebook + CoC + BoomBeach)
Note8: 15 Minutes screen time, 87% battery left. (Whatsapp + short facebook load and nothing else)

So far, IPX is surely winning....
*
Good to know thumbup.gif

We know iOS has better standby times than Android, and I’m guessing because the IPX also uses an AMOLED screen, the power consumption is probably on par with the Note 8 or maybe slightly less due to the smaller screen during usage.

Wow, isn't it IP67 certified? How did it get damaged, and what exactly is wrong with it, can't power on?

I don't even submerse the iphone more than 0.5 meter. I play with it around 10 minutes on the surface water.  vmad.gif  vmad.gif . It is totally can't turn on .  cry.gif
*
QUOTE(maserati @ Jan 4 2018, 01:38 PM)
True. There isn't really a way for the owner to prove that the phone was submerged within limits. Unless they find some defects with the water seal when opening up the phone, maybe then it can still be argued.
*
Yeah, problem is as long as there is water damage, they can't verify whether or not you took the phone beyond the limits that they recommend. Which is as you mentioned, best not to submerge it at all.

Ya, OK. Can understand that smile.gif

If you had the Plus models, then maybe you wouldn’t have to. I’ve not used a power bank since the iPhone 6 Plus biggrin.gif

I use a cello tape to remove the dust /lint.

Just dont press too hard on the SP, just a tap will do. Similar to removing lint before applying SP.
*
I'd be a bit careful about using cello tape though, might accidentally pull out the SP if the cello tape is too strong biggrin.gif

Nothing wrong...had been doing it on all my " waterproof" Androids and current ip8+. Sometimes with those dish cleaner liquids eg Glo
*
Probably washing is OK, but not submerging the phone in water for an extended period of time.

Not supposed at all.

Android is well known to leak data here, leak battery there. Will be even worse with all the battery pro doctor apps installed
*
Actually stock Android now holds battery charge pretty well though. It's just all those manufacturers' UI and bloatware that causes the issues.
