Opted for Penzoil synthetic 5w 40 recently. I did feel the mileage benefit. Least the fact finding paid off. Most compact vehicles were recommended to use semi for a start. I share your thought on U/G unconventional driving. Might use a different synthetic grade on the next change.

Interesting. From which grade you planning to change to which grade? I'm eager to know your results.

Also, I feel like since I pump Petronas, FC better a bit. Feel only la. I think probably has more to do with how light footed I drive and what road conditions. If have to climb uphill then really koyak.

I didn’t face similar issue before, but there were bookings which were accepted then disappeared. Sometimes recorded as ignored & at times nothing. That was some time ago. I’d informed GCS by call & leave a remark. Was informed it was due to low bandwidth, which I think it’s an excuse. I wouldn’t use my phone as median, but instead a dongle for www connections.

I do practice IOS update & test the GD-app receivings. If it doesn’t behave normally, just reinstall. 😉😉😉

In any vehicle it’s best don’t behave differently from the vehicle being owned. That’s why new cars are highly recommended to perform ‘break-in’ for the 1st year.

I was thinking about 5w 30 coz it jerks while gear changing & acceleration. By the way, don’t take 10k mileage as guide coz it’s inaccurate. Always feel the engine behavior....usually it’s lacky while driving. I discovered it while using semi & workshop recommends 7k as guide. Most semi’s are 5k recommended coz of the mixture molecularly.

The company with one of the worst PR teams strikes again

SINGAPORE: Ride-hailing firm Grab is seeking to track its drivers’ locations and habits, even when they are not ferrying passengers – raising eyebrows among industry players and drivers at a time when data breaches are in the news.

The company, late last month, asked its rental fleet partners to install trackers in cars which will be used to collect data to generate daily reports of drivers.

The fleet partners are expected to complete this exercise by the end of the year for all their cars. It is not clear if Grab also wants drivers who use their own cars to install trackers too.

Grab, along with rival Uber, partners car rental firms which supply vehicles to their drivers. Drivers can use the cars for personal trips as well as to pick up passengers.

The reports, to be compiled by the fleet partners, will contain data such as the car’s coordinates, speed, acce­leration, braking, and if rear doors are opened. The data is collected whenever the car’s ignition is on.

While it is common for rental companies to install trackers – especially to recover cars which go missing or when accidents happen, for example – industry players say reports that go into such detail around the clock are unheard of.

Some fleet owners said they might need to upgrade their existing trackers.

One fleet owner who did not want to be named said: “Should Grab have access to the data of dri­vers when they are not doing Grab jobs? The granularity of the data they are asking for is uncommon.”

When asked, Uber did not confirm if it required similar tracking systems in its cars, but said it took the trust and privacy of its users seriously.

A Grab spokesman said data ge­­ne­­rated from trackers, or on-board diagnostic devices, can show which drivers consistently display safe dri­ving behaviours, and who may in turn enjoy reduced insurance premiums or rental charges.

Still, observers say the data – when cross-referenced with information Grab collects from its app – could help Grab identify drivers who are taking jobs for Uber, despite having signed exclusive deals with Grab. — The Straits Times/Asia News Network
