Can, but doubt u can make much money day trading Gold.
U need leverage for that like Gold Futures.

Cause I realise there is some fluctuations in the high and low for this gold etf, hence was thinking to buy when the price is low enough to make some minor gain.. by the way, does this etf follow T+2 settlement date rule as in after I sell this etf, I can only get the money after T+2?

I think it most definitely will go up. But dont expect to sell it in a few days or weeks. It may take a year for it to go maybe 20% of your investment.

Pros:
lower spreading compared to banks

short term trade (1 months to 3 years) wise, better than bank rates i would say

Cons:

but have small management fee annually

low volume, may need to sell below market price if low demand

I just found back this thread that I opened 2 years ago.. Forgot I opened it, due to poor response 😆

I hv been holding some of this "stock" a while but end of last year I double my holdings due to what I perceive as higher risks of economic disaster.

I think I want to promote more ppl to look at this, it tracks price of gold, which is now slowly going up again. Globally central banks are cutting interest rates, this causes currency to fall. Ppl are saying there is a currency war going on on top of a trade war. Gov wants their currency to go lower to maintain export competitiveness. In such scenario, gold being the "neutral" currency will naturally go up.

https://www.kitco.com/news/2019-07-17/Gold-...che-Bank.htmlhe

Goldetf is up 16% in 1 year and 11% YTD.

This is more convinient way to buy and sell gold as its in the same Bursa trading platform n transaction is fast, costs is low with no stamp duty.

I remember it has a very low volume. Is it hard to sell it?

Quite easy to sell because of market maker.

Buying is the difficult part due to cash upfront rule, n I have to call my dealer.

Normally yes, but this ETF got some special rule because of sharia ruling. You need to have free cash to buy.

Of course u will be charged a management fee.

Anyway gold will shine again, that's my belief. It's not a get rich investment, but more like an insurance.
