I'd recommend him to have a look at CX5 instead because even with a single child the CX30 can become a squeeze

Because his wife doesnt want a big car so CRV is out. The CX5 have the perfect balance between size and practically
*
He did mentioned that his wife wanted a smaller (relative to CR-V) car for easier handling. the CX5 is only shorter than the CR-V but not narrower so the former wouldn't translate to easier handling, i supposed.

plus, the CX30 has the advantage of weight so with the same 2.0 litre engine, the CX30 will drive better (way nicer interior too).

as for children(s), if it is just one kid then the kid practically has the whole of the rear room to himself / herself.

Some paint chips and scratches on the rear bumper.

How much to fix this?🥹
*
they don't seem too bad.

buy a claybar and slowly work your way until the surface is clean and then get this touch up pen from Mikstore;

Mazda Touch-Up Pen | Mikstore

it won't be perfect but it is cheap and it will not be obvious.

those with the latest refresh Mazda3, did you all buy a screen protector for the 10.25 infotainment display?

can't find it anywhere - the one that i found was of a TPU material but i prefer the ones made from glass.

definitely better than the meter dont worry..

as for my meter i seldom wipe it. if its dusty i just use wet microfiber cloth to clean.
make sure the cloth be wet.

*
i have a portable vacuum / air duster which i used occasionally to blow off whatever loose dust that's on my CX-30's meter cluster previously. that panel is fragile as hell.

QUOTE(squareballs @ Dec 10 2024, 10:19 AM)

Polymetal Gray! - according to my SA, it was the last unit in their inventory and there was 5 people queuing for it. I was lucky enough to snatched it because my loan came through super fast hahaha.

I was euphoric when my SA told me that the PMG was mine blush.gif

completed Puspakom inspection on Tuesday and is now in the detailing shop to do the coating, PPF and tinting.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Dec 10 2024, 07:52 PM)
Wait I rmb you used to have a M3? Or was I mistaken?

Sold your CX30 now?
*
Yes, i had a Mazda3 previously (also PMG) - bought during MCO and then i traded it in for the CX-30 early June this year but i couldn't stand the CKD built quality so i went back to Mazda3.

Same color as my ignite.. very easy color to jaga..

my first choice was soul red but wife's cx5 already is red.
*
*high five*

PMG wasn't my first choice when I bought my first Mazda3 but throughout the years, it sorta grew on me and i just couldn't see me driving the Mazda3 in another color.

I was devastated to know that i need to consider either Ceramic Metallic or Platinum Quartz but thankfully, i managed to get the PMG in the end.

you may consider ONERPRO in Icon City - i think they are the panel detailer for Prima Merdu Mazda and also some branches of C&C. Look for Mr. Lai - knowledgeable and friendly fellow.

Their workmanship / product isn't the best in the market but good enough - their service is excellent though.

for those who are curious - the latest firmware now allows 3rd party maps' directions (Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps) to appear on the HUD. it no longer confines itself to only using Mazda's own maps (through their SD card).

One thing still missing though and that is the speed recognition feature.

if you have the 10.25" infotainment display then you should have it - this shouldn't be an "ignite-only" feature.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Dec 22 2024, 08:56 PM)
Mazda's TSR (traffic sign recognition) for some reason only relies on the SD card map data instead of using the camera.

I have it activated on my CX30 with the SD card, but sometimes it's showing a different speed from what's shown on the real sign
*
hmm.. then it works differently than those i found in the Peugeot, outdated map i guess.

Honestly I don't think it's worth it just for the extra 1"+ of screen. The pre update size of 8.8" is still very usable. Also I read somewhere the resolution is actually still the same... so you get more ppi with the older screen

On the other hand, the AA / AC support for HUD is something I will gladly pay for
*
1.45" is actually plenty lot, i couldn't help but noticed now how small the 8.8" is when i drive my sister's CX-30 sweat.gif but you are right, the 8.8" is still very useable. i think the display got upgraded as well, the colors appears to be deeper (better contrast ratio) and slightly "crispier".

to put things into perspective, the screen size between an iPhone 16 Pro and an iPhone 16 Pro Max is only 0.6".

Yeah but to get the new screen seperately, the part itself costs more than 1k iinm... to me not a very tempting upgrade unless I have spare cash lying around
*
true biggrin.gif

but i reckon that anyone who intends to keep the car for more than 5 years, it's worth the upgrade though. the additional screen estate is quite valuable when it comes to displaying maps.

i've searched high and low for it, even in taobao. there is none.

there's the TPU alternative though which i hate.

Exactly! I don't like the TPU one either sad.gif I rather keep the original piece there without peeling it  sad.gif
*
better to remove that thin protective plastic layer as it can trap dust in between which increases the chance of scratching the display. it should be quite resistant compared to the plastic cover used in the meter cluster biggrin.gif

we don't touch it anyway so basically there's almost no need to wipe it.

*
if you're on iOS then only Apple Maps will work however if you're on Android, both Waze and Google Maps will work.

Apple purposely made it so that users are forced to use their Apple Maps if they want to unlock the car's full potential. If they cannot put it behind a pay wall then they decided to just disabled it. Scum bag move.

anyone changed gearbox oil at SC? i was told rm740.

or better do outside? any workshop can recomment?
*
did they tell you what other items are included in the RM740.00 - i assume there are parts to be replaced as well but get an itemized quotation from them.

some people in the Mazda3 group recommends Vcarbon Auto Repair Services, apparently they also do walnut blasting decarbonizer.

QUOTE(gmail @ Jan 14 2025, 09:11 AM)
recently my rear door got scratches by motorcycle.

got any recommended workshop to touch-up machine grey?
*
care to share a picture for us to determine how bad are the scratches?

if it's not too bad, you can pick up a touch up pen from Mikstore, it's not perfect but it's the closest paint color match that i can currently find on the market (mine's Polymetal Gray).

unless the scratch is very obvious and that you cannot ignore, i'd advise you to forget about it because if you have the entire door panel resprayed then high chances are you are going to see a bigger difference in color (with the resprayed panel looked darker) but if you NEED to do it then apparently a few recommends HONG Y AUTO PAINT.

You can verify the price with SC. That's the price i was told.
*
why would i want to verify the price with the SC?

i am merely asking you to get an itemized quotation to see if the RM740.00 is purely on the fluid change and nothing else since you were curious/unsure if the SC is over charging you.
