i love solid wood finish as well. My house is using rose wood flooring. However for our climate its hard to use wood besides belian that can withstand our weather outdoors. if not i would be using alot more pine / maple which is really nice. Our hard wood here is mainly very dark brown and those that can used outdoors like belian will turn black.
But im planning to do some interior finishes using maple /pine but its hard to find them here unless imported. In australia their whole roof framing is using oak wood.

what about balau or chengal ? can use for outdoor right? although not as long lasting as belian maybe..
belian i heard is very rare now.. 1 shop i went near Tropicana.. selling solid wood furniture.. they have 2nd hand belian wood coffee table.. 4' x 2.5' selling around RM3500.. shakehead.gif

Im not too sure but i bought lots of belian for my home more than 10 years ago and that time was still affordable. So i now use it as my outdoor floor decking after renovation so it has to be permanent.

Interested to know about this too. Which type is good to be use as kitchen worktop.

BTW, are the woods treated? Do I have to worry about bringing wood borer or termites hitching the ride with the wood into my house?

most of my stock is white oak for now. lengths are 8-10feet for the 1inch boards. for 2inches. its around 10-14feet.

as for walnut and cherry and maple, we dont keep much, but its enough to make a dining table top. but may reserve it for smaller projects. (like end grain chess set, butcher block kitchen island etc)

The pre-finished color is so nice. Are you a supplier? Mind if I PM you to inquire about price?
