Had to use full force to turn the wheel back into the position needed to enter the parking. Multiple dahsboard lights went off. With great difficulty managed to manuver into my parking lot. Steering wheel still very heavy and unable to move it around freely as per normal.

Classic EPS issue, disaster waiting to happen. At least with old hydraulic system, the power loss isn't sudden.
There's also another EPS failure mode, instead of a power loss (where you can still steer but have to use a bit strength), the electric motor locks the steering to one side by applying force - this one can be more fatal.

Hah, this is exactly what happened to me once, the steering bounce back by itself together with a fault code whenever it is being turned

Summore its a Electro-Hydraulic power steering, not a full on EPS
