Has anyone else been through this? If yes appreciate if your share your experience.

Driving my new CRV (about two weeks old) home after dinner with my wife and son. Entering my apartment complex and needed to turn left, suddenly my steering wheel jammed and locked. Steering wheel locked at turning position causing me to nearly hit the guard house. I hit the emergency brake immediately. Had to use full force to turn the wheel back into the position needed to enter the parking. Multiple dahsboard lights went off. With great difficulty managed to manuver into my parking lot. Steering wheel still very heavy and unable to move it around freely as per normal. Called Honda and they came to tow the car to the service center. It has been there for two weeks. At first Honda personel informed me that they do not know the root cause of the problem. A couple days ago, received another call to inform me that my car is the second CRV to experience this issue and they narrowed it down to the steering rack. They need to order a replacement and it will take a minimum of 90 days to arrive. Upon arrival of the spare, they will need additional time to fix it. Honestly this is unacceptable and ridiculous especially since my car was less then two weeks old when it happened!!!

You hit the jackpot, you got a lemon

Better request for a replacement car or you sticker the whole car with HONDA BODOH and park in front of their office everyday

No. Water tight seal has a small crack. Had to replace entire unit for RM 3K. Luckily have chop shop parts. If original at Merc already RM 11K!

Above certain speed, EPS will disable itself so steering will be a bit heavier. Only slower speed or parking where EPS will kick in full time.

Less than two weeks old but hitting 3000km walao hardcore traveler.

By the way the screen showing “drive carefully” LEL

If the eps failed, isn’t it just like normal non powered steering afterwards? Just use force and turn it like in the old days

EPS to save cost. Hydraulic power steering still the best. Need regular maintenance but reliable. Hardly find EPS will last more than 5 years.
