Enigma? Nope. I think I have to send it in for repairs then.
Apparently my friend bought it for over a year, and only used it once...... 7 months ago.

QUOTE(Bassix @ Apr 21 2007, 05:01 AM) why so complicated? You can use the combinator to split instruments on your controller. All you have to do is open an empty combinator and click "open Programmer" then there is a key mapping thingy that allows you to define which keys control what instruments in your combinator. Oh...I didn't knew Combinator could be used that way Gathering? sure |

the combinator is the most powerful tool in reason
blacktrix: Latency is a pure soundcard thing. Nothing to do with your keyboard. Especially if it's USB 2.0 (which most are). The only time i had experienced latency problems with MIDI was when trying out the Roland GI-10 with a GK-1 Midi PU. Because there you have conversion audio-MIDI signal. Even then, was not very noticable. But if it's a keyboard which already sends MIDI signals, there shouldn't be a problem. Try decreasing your sampling buffer size if you have a good recording soundcard, should be able to go under 10 ms. Mine can only reach 30ms which is good enough for live usage. But you have to adjust to compensate when recording if you're the fussy kind. |

sorry if i confused you. latency is soundcard but ur keyboard not triggering any notes could be hardware problem. dload enigma program and the drivers from m-audio site and see if it helps. use enigma to set settings on your keyboard

You know what? We should all meet up at a certain, semi-crowded location, setup our stuff, and just do a live recording there.
Get someone to video tape us (Silver Isle? You there??) and then post our results up here. I can bring my Laptop and UX2 along with my lightest guitar (RR3).... someone else brings a laptop hooked up to a keyboard..... then some speakers, someone bring a portable mixer.... a good dynamic microphone....... Voila! Instant music! |

Looks like i have time after all. So here is how i use combinator to split my keyboard. Hope i do the thumbnails thing right this time...
First, create an empty combinator and create the Spider Merger thingy. ![]() Then insert the instruments that you want (synths work best because you won't be affected by transposing). In my case, i combined Malström for a bass synth and NN-XT for a rhythmic thing. I used the spider merger to combine signals, but you can also insert a 14 channel mixer if you want to. It's like having a sub group of instruments with seperate effects. But anyway....here's how i did mine: (hope the screenshot is big enough): ![]() So now you have your instruments all wired up, you can start splitting your keyboard. On the combinator main panel click "show programmer" (marked blue). Your devices will be listed down again on the left of the "key mapping" screen. ![]() Choose which device you want to configure. You can then select the range on your keyboard that will control the device you have selected by using the slider (marked red). You can also assign the combinators rotater knobs to control the parameters of your selected devices (marked green). That you can experiment yourselves. Aside from controlling synths you can also control parameters of your effects such as delays and hall. Anyway, to split your keyboard, just slide the slider until you achieved the range you want. Here i split it at E2. Meaning up to E2, my keyboard signal is routed to the Malström. And from F2 onwards, it controls the NN-XT. ![]() You can combine as many instruments as you want. One problem which i came across when splitting keyboards is that, you have to transpose your instruments sometimes. Difficult to explain, but i will try. For example ReDrum play button for drum 1-10 starts from a C1. If you split your ReDrum to occupy, let's say C-1 to C0, you won't hit the play buttons with your split keyboard because the ReDrum is programmed by default to accept the C1 key as the play button for drum 1. And so on and so forth. I am still trying to solve this little problem. For synths it is no problem because you can play around with the octaves without affecting tone quality. But for the NN-XT for example if you need a piano sample in the low end, it could be a problem. Because if you transpose the NN-XT all it does is alternate the sample frequency leading to a colouration of your sample's original tone. If anyone knows how to solve this, please let me know as well. Hope this was helpful |

Probably play some ultra hip Dance infused rock......
I think it'll be damn cool... I just don't know where to setup, as we'll need quite alot of power outlets! Somewhere maybe like the El Fresco section of Starbucks in KLCC would be cool..... |

Just thought of something to spice up things...
Anyone wanna try composing a piece by only using Reason? Something like a virtual jam lah. Start off with something simple...electro-dance...120bpm, 4/4 steady drum beat...rest is up to your imagination. |
