I never see the celcom 3g but maxis did. Maxis is using 1 special 3g modem like our boardband modem partern and it have the hole to slot in ur maxis 3g sim card to make the connection.

I also want to know that is it we can use our 3g phone to act like a modem then we no need to pay the monthly modem rental fee (RM18). If it can use as modem, then is it the speed ll effect or normal?

Celcom has equipped some of their base stations with 3.6mbps capability. HSDPA speed, in terms of download bandwidth, maxes out at 7.2mbps currently; this is what is being tested in Singapore (or maybe even offered already). Of course, since it is assymetric, upload speed still suck. That's why we now have HSUPA, but upload speed will still be less than download.

@madhatter2k, thanks for the info. I wonder why the h3ll they advertised in Harian Metro and not in the other newspapers. They sure work in strange ways.

Finally, I can confirm that for the D50 packages which were offered for a very short time some time ago, the speed is now capped at 1mbps. D50 is supposed to be the same package as D120 when they offered it. So, even though they tell you that 3GX is 3.6mbps capable, they cap your speed at 1mbps even though your modem is well capable of supporting 3.6mbps. So, it sucks, big time...and is very misleading advertising.

I'm using Celcom 3.5G HSDPA Area near Subang. 3G will have less freq interrupt noise compare to piggyback on copper link(Streamyx) So you might notice slight improvement in connections eventhough the speed is lesser.
