QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 8 2017, 03:23 PM) It has always been a known fact among Iphone owners that there is NO INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY on iphones. I have made a claim with a SG unit of Iphone 6 with Mac City before and the staff at Mac City told me that they are doing this on a good will basis only and also provided my unit was a Singapore Appstore unit. If it was a Sg Telco unit, they wouldnt be able to help me. If you check your Model code, There is a MY for Malaysia, SG For Singapore and HK for Hong Kong and so on and so forth at the end of your model number. For example MH4D2 MY/AI don't know how it was during iPhone 6. but definitely warranty for iPhone SG is covered by our local authorised service center for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. even if u call apple careline, and tell them can u claim warranty for set purchased from US (for eg.) they only ask for model code A1778 to check if it's supported for local warranty claims.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 8 2017, 04:04 PM) Correct. When I claimed the Sg set Iphone 6 with Mac City, the staff even told me that my claim will be processed by their Apple Store SG as my set is from them. So they will just help me ship the phone back to them. I would not suggest anyone take the risk of buying an overseas set unless it is absolutely necessary. Safest would be to buy Malaysian sets as warranty could be easily sorted out. Resale value of used My units also will fetch better prices. Personally the furthest I would go for would be only Sg sets. irenici think the policy changes. they don't ask for the lengthy model number that shows MY/A like last time.. Now all they asked is for the short model number to verify if we can send that specific iPhone here. U can try call apple careline now @ 1800803638

for confirmation, i just called apple saying i bought iPhone 8 from apple store SG and now got problem. can i sent it at malaysia? she asked for imei number for call report purposes before asking my model no (the short one). then she said no problem i can send here in MY.
then i just asked what's the actual policy, she said actually now apple has international warranty for country that has apple store. for country like malaysia, the authorised service center will send the phones to SG if let say the parts is not available in malaysia. However, normally for SG set shouldnt be a problem because SG and MY always share the same parts.
i think if the warranty is denied, the culprit might be machines or these 3rd party authorised sc. we should always consult apple and ask them to step in if the sc refuse the warranty claims.

QUOTE(apowerfulskill @ Nov 8 2017, 05:47 PM) Exactly. We've been made to think that Apple doesn't provide International Warranty when in actual fact, its just the third party service providers (Machines, Mac City, etc) who are refusing to entertain us. I could easily claim warranty for my iPhone bought in Malaysia in foreign countries (i.e. US, UK, SG). It's just in Malaysia where the problem arises due to the unavailability of an official physical Apple Store. true, but can be the 3rd party authorized SC has different policies than apple. normally they have different level of partnership in which some levels dont have to follow 100% the policies set by the principle. i dunno. but as long as people know they can contact apple careline in case of any issue, perhaps these 3rd party SC can assist sending the overseas set to SG. last time i bought imac from apple my online store, they still need to send it to SG when i sent it for broken hinge. i guess our local SC has very limited parts thus they 'prefer' to reject warranty claim at the first request. QUOTE(desreg2913 @ Nov 8 2017, 10:07 PM) Which version is Malaysia getting? Intel or Qualcomm? Depends on which model we'll be getting. Most probably is A1901 (same like SG) which use Intel.

QUOTE(Dio Escobar @ Nov 9 2017, 04:40 PM) can we use the samsung note 8 wireless charger for iphone x too? because i have both note 8 & ipx (not yet arrived) so i'm thinking to buy 1 wireless charger that i can use for both phone. note 8 wireless charger has fast charging feature so is it ok to use with ipx which doesn't support fast wireless charging yet? Can. It wont draw power more than what it supports so dont worry.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 9 2017, 04:47 PM) Im using the same wireless charger from the Note 8 to charge my iphone x too. Rather slow charging though if you ask me so I dont bother. it's normal since iPx doesnt support fast wireless charging.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Nov 9 2017, 04:49 PM) How long does yours take to charge from about 0% to full on wireless charging? I never fully charge my IpX using wireless charger.. i put the wireless charger in the office for minimal charging and cool factor only.
