Hi guys, Anyone have any suggestion of good cardiologist and Nephrologist?

Recently went for employment check up in Singapore, and found out very high blood pressure of 260/115 and got admitted to hospital for 2 nights, so far test result out no abnormality in my heart and kidney through ultrasound. Blood & urine test shown kidney might have some issue but it may due to high blood pressure that time cause the test not accurate. I'm planning to go for second opinion in Malaysia and if any medication require, I prefer to do it in Malaysia as I have no insurance coverage in Singapore which cost a bomb there sweat.gif

If anyone have any recommendation of cardiologist and Nephrologist, do let me know, prefer area around Selangor/Kuala Lumpur.

Thanks in advance!

Systolic pressure of 260?
Definitely wrong something there. Usually device to measure blood pressure can't even reach that number

Yeap, I was shocked too. My family have no history of high blood pressure, and previously for 3-4 years I have been checking every week - month and it's at very good level. The doctor was very shock when he see my blood pressure and quickly refer to me emergency.

My wife went to see Dr. Vincent Wong Chun Wei in Sunway Hospital. Friendly doctor and he looked very young though. Was there on a minor issue where high protein was detected from a blood test but more of a false alarm.

Extreme high blood pressure WILL damage kidneys. Don't wait and get your medication to bring down the blood pressure immediately. At such reading, there will be risks like strokes.

Sunway and Ramsay SJMC also got many cardiologists. My own cardiologist is in Ramsay SJMC Ara Damansara, Dr Liew Chee Koon.

Yeap, overweight. Actually last time for 3 years+ I have been checking my blood pressure every week and its normal at 120. Only 1 year ago I stopped checking when shifted to singapore to work. Never expect this to happen suddenly as family do not have history of high blood pressure until recent job change and went for medical check up. It's really shocking and I'm below 30 yo.

Have started change my life style, diet and exercise.

Yeap, understand the risk, so thats the reason I was send to A&E once the clinic found out my blood pressure. Now I'm on medication to bring down my high blood pressure. Based on blood test, there seem to be some affect on kidney but based on the doctor in SG, she say is due to my blood pressure and it maybe temporary until your blood pressure is down. So far have not go for biopsy on kidney yet until my blood pressure back to normal.

Ok great, will check out and see. Thank you so much for the info.

You may not need to see a nephrologist at this point of time. But if you can afford it can go ahead.

When in Singapore, the nephrologist told me the same, she say should wait my BP back to normal else any test will not accurate except if i do biopsy. So my plan for now is to go for cardiology on 2nd opinion, then may monitor from there.

Ideally should visit the general physician / internal medicine physician before visiting any sub specialists. Who knows you have other underlying conditions which resulted in your heart condition.

I just had a hiking walk around Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Good place to burn your calories.

Meanwhile, go for a full medical check up and that would be a starting point to find out why you had high blood pressure. Is it from lipids, blockages to your arteries, thyroid problems, heart disease, etc. Take care and go buy yourself a Omron BP meter and record the readings every day in your dairy. The doctor would need these info.

Already did the check up, ultrasound on both kidney and heart, checked on my thyroid, 24 hour urine test, blood test. Everything come out normal and fine, except blood pressure. Already have the Omron BP meter, but seem like the value is way off when compare to clinic, bringing back to the shop and exchange this coming few day. The value is like 30-40 lower than the check in clinic.

Hopefully that will work. The cardiologist who treated me in Singapore is very against that, he feel challenged when I told him I did not continue the medicine and I trying diet and exercise to control blood pressure. That's why I looking for 2nd opinion back in Malaysia

He hav the right to.concern , if patient is highly risk in blood pressure, they will.recommended continue the medicine.
Even you seek for.diet exercise plan, still need continue the medicine. But control ur dose based on ur situation..then you can.slowly decrease the dose
