Hi guys, Anyone have any suggestion of good cardiologist and Nephrologist?

Recently went for employment check up in Singapore, and found out very high blood pressure of 260/115 and got admitted to hospital for 2 nights, so far test result out no abnormality in my heart and kidney through ultrasound. Blood & urine test shown kidney might have some issue but it may due to high blood pressure that time cause the test not accurate. I'm planning to go for second opinion in Malaysia and if any medication require, I prefer to do it in Malaysia as I have no insurance coverage in Singapore which cost a bomb there  sweat.gif

If anyone have any recommendation of cardiologist and Nephrologist, do let me know, prefer area around Selangor/Kuala Lumpur.

Thanks in advance!

Extreme high blood pressure WILL damage kidneys. Don't wait and get your medication to bring down the blood pressure immediately. At such reading, there will be risks like strokes.

Sunway and Ramsay SJMC also got many cardiologists. My own cardiologist is in Ramsay SJMC Ara Damansara, Dr Liew Chee Koon.

I just had a hiking walk around Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Good place to burn your calories.

Meanwhile, go for a full medical check up and that would be a starting point to find out why you had high blood pressure. Is it from lipids, blockages to your arteries, thyroid problems, heart disease, etc. Take care and go buy yourself a Omron BP meter and record the readings every day in your dairy. The doctor would need these info.

Yeap, I understand his concern but he also aware that once started the medicine for long will have to rely it for the rest of the life. That's what I'm trying to avoid, but no discussion with him further on as he insist only medication can work.

You must understand how Lowering BP medicine work. Some work by blocking calcium to your heart. If you r heart do not have too much calcium, it will pump slower. But when you do not take the med, normal calcium will go to the heart, and it will pump faster. That why you cannot stop taking the med altogether after your BP stabilised. What you can do is to lower the dosage but only strictly by the doctor. Cannot suka suka stop taking and think by exercising or diet will work. Those will help but it can only happen many months later. In the short term, your BP is still very high and you might kena stoke or kidney failure.

Ok, I see. To be frank, I dont know how the medicine works but yeap, I know that for now I will need medicine to control but my aim is for long term to solve it instead of temporary. Actually in a way, I was misguided by BP monitor I bought as it show much lower value, between 140~145/85~95 which I think is under control but when check in Clinic it's much higher. So, I have started taken back the medicine to control it now.

Very good you know your problems and risks that go along.
I was in the same situation like you before. Bought a cheapo meter and think I am ok. If the pressure is too high, I will take readings many times hoping the reading is not right first time. My reading then was 168/110.
What you should do is to record your reading every day, maybe 3 times daily and each time 2 readings. Our BP fluctuates and it is important to get a consistent reading over a period, normally 1 week. Do not talk and close your eyes when taking the reading as it will affect the pressure.
If your BP is above 160, you should already have dull ache at the back of your neck / shoulders, severe headaches or some fainting spells especially when you get up in the morning.
Nowadays, I take my BP medicine at the lowest dose as given by my doctor. And I feel good as I do jungle hiking almost every week. Take care.
