Hi,

I have an issue where I've already clean install a Windows 10 Pro version 1703 (according to winver). Everything works as it does during the installation, the problem is right after it.

After the installation was done, I've been trying to update the windows through the windows update and possibly activate the windows as well as I'm using digital copy (free upgrade from win7 pro before) but it can't do anything at all. Even after the whole troubleshooting and stuff, it still won't work.

Here's the weird part, all my browsers don't have any problem browsing the internet and so forth. Steam installer and Megasync program also having problem to connect, which they failed to get any update.

Been doing the clean install for like 10 times already but still end up in the same problem. vmad.gif

Anyone can help me with this?
Thanks in advance

p/s: I do have my old windows in other partition, been using it since the upgrade and it doesn't have this kind of problem.

Version 1703 is the Creator Update. It still have some bugs.
Try using the lower version 1607 or 1507.

I did try with the ver 1607, still hit the same problem bangwall.gif
Haven't tried the previous ver before 1607 though.

I don't think it's hardware problem though, my old windows (at latest version of 1703) don't have any problem whatsoever currently.

Yep, I myself don't even know what is wrong with it.
Numerous dns-related fix, 0x80072ee2 code when checking through troubleshooter, modifying registry, disable firewall and defender, and clean install again, nothing fix those problem.

If anyone had any other solution, hopefully you guys can share it notworthy.gif

i suspect the issues were caused by external factors instead of the os. dns-related issues especially failure to perform windows updates are common, just keep trying at later time when it failed. usually it will work. i don't think you need winsock reset also because apparently your web browsers are working well.

all my machines are running w10 1703, clean installs with latest patches. (i have installed the up-coming w10 1709 on two of them just recently) all run fine.

I don't think so, my previous windows (in separate hard disk) runs fine. I'm installing on brand new hard disk

I know some windows-related updates can malfunction at certain time but fyi, this also affect some other programs too like steam which I can't even update as well, something to do with services?

Already ruled that out. Downloaded the iso 2 times and done directly install to usb stick using media creation tool (latest). Same problem IMO.

Just to note on some errors I encountered
- 0x80072EE2, "Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (web proxy) is not responding" (It's a fresh install. Checking on ipv4/6 all were set to automatic by default)

- Steam Needs to Be Online to Update (this is from steam. Apparently Megasync app also gotten hit by this too. Haven't tried other programs that were affected by this)

Can you try disable IPV6 then try again?

you should try out disabling ipv6 first like what our friend suggested.

services wise, by default they should work fine, unless you have run tweaks with third party tools before this; that might interfere with normal behaviors of such services.

LOL, disabling ipv6 does the trick. Now everything works as it should be. Thanks a lot for this.

On a side note, I thought ipv6 was supposed to replace ipv4 sometimes later. Would be bad if I need to use ipv6 later

yeah external factors like ipv6 are always in the way. os is always the one that gets the blames lol

the overall ipv6 implementations here are still less than optimal. hopefully it will be ready sooner.

That's unexpected.
