i suspect the issues were caused by external factors instead of the os. dns-related issues especially failure to perform windows updates are common, just keep trying at later time when it failed. usually it will work. i don't think you need winsock reset also because apparently your web browsers are working well.
all my machines are running w10 1703, clean installs with latest patches. (i have installed the up-coming w10 1709 on two of them just recently) all run fine.

QUOTE(flagstar @ Oct 13 2017, 07:32 AM) I don't think so, my previous windows (in separate hard disk) runs fine. I'm installing on brand new hard disk the free digital copy from the free upgrade before. I didn't change hardware except hdd I know some windows-related updates can malfunction at certain time but fyi, this also affect some other programs too like steam which I can't even update as well, something to do with services? you should try out disabling ipv6 first like what our friend suggested. services wise, by default they should work fine, unless you have run tweaks with third party tools before this; that might interfere with normal behaviors of such services.

QUOTE(flagstar @ Oct 13 2017, 06:04 PM) LOL, disabling ipv6 does the trick. Now everything works as it should be. Thanks a lot for this. On a side note, I thought ipv6 was supposed to replace ipv4 sometimes later. Would be bad if I need to use ipv6 later yeah external factors like ipv6 are always in the way. os is always the one that gets the blames lol the overall ipv6 implementations here are still less than optimal. hopefully it will be ready sooner.
