QUOTE(madmoz @ Jan 22 2008, 12:28 PM)
It is a very general statement but in England that IS the way things started. Back in the day the public school ponce (if that is even the correct derogatory term for the upper middle class) would normally follow/play rugby. The rich (uber ponce smile.gif )would flock to cricket.
The working class (of which are surprisingly not well to do at all) would watch football.
*
I love rugby myself but yeah, the general feeling in England as far as I know is that it's a rich man's sport. Not that much of a case here though. Been to rugby matches before, it's enjoyed by people from all sorts. It's a rough and tumble sports anyway which I think many would enjoy not just snooty people as being pointed out.

I think we need to take the verx route on this Jonno. Ignore them and let them have their fun. If people who are what 27, 28 insists on doing so, what hope is there for the ones who are still in school ehh?? Just don't expect to be respected or celebrated for it. And as I pointed out, they are lucky that they are in this forum. Go into a proper club forum, they won't last.

Don't think anything can be achieved, except people throwing out cynical comments I suppose. Saying they don't like so and so, while not daring to name who the person is. I got myself quite a hate list on this thread ehh??? Hahaha. Might have bothered me had this been real life, but seeing that this is an internet forum, it makes me laugh really.

If you think I'm aiming at you, then you guessed wrongly. I did say he is not a football fan. He came in to squirt his profanity, as he always does in other threads, and leave after fulfilling his desire.
*
Nope. Didn't mean you either. I'm talkign about my many fans who state things like "there's this one Man United fan"...or "I hate this guy" or " so called die hard Man United supporter". Damn, there's a lot of terms. Like I said, my many fans. you'll find at least 5 or so of those descriptons in the past 2 or 3 pages.

Agreed, by the way, if they are 27. 28 then I have nothing to say. Their behaviour beffles me.  hmm.gif

While not giving me age away, my youngest sister is older than you mate, so I am one of the old farts...  biggrin.gif

I can see you being mid 30's Jonno. Because if you're 40+, I just gotta say.....what the hell are you doing in a hip forum like LYN????

Don't bother exyzt. Ignore. As I pointed out earlier, irregardless of what I say, you gotta give em credit, they make good comedians. A good pair at that. Like Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin. Although it's more like Harry and Lloyd's Dumb and Dumber at the moment. And as I pointed out earlier, they are likely to change their story as well. It was 'sit back and enjoy' before and it's Chelski all the way now. So much for a proclaimed Milan fan then ehh??

Can you lot stop letting fly the personal insults? It adds nothing to the debate and shows just how childish you really are... then again, you'd make perfect politicians biggrin.gif
*
It's not even a debate madmoz. It will be though when they say something that make sense. Seeing that it doesn't, it's far from a debate. How can even one debate with someone who'll moan when one disagrees with him and keep repeating the same answer and asking the same question when everything has been addressed?? As I pointed out to Jonno, going to take the verx route here. No point saying anything to these people, you'll never change them. But they got another thing coming though if they expect to be respected as a football fan.

QUOTE(-Y- @ Jan 25 2008, 08:20 PM)
i never asked to be respected as a football fan. but as a human being. why on earth u simply said some1 an idiot & brain is damaged?

i have no offend against anybody except u. u think u great. 'real' fan n whatever. then its ok. i came to this forum to discuss. if u think im plastic. IT IS OK 2! like jonc said, Go on supporting your single or as many teams as you like as long as ya happy. i think we can make a healthy discussion here. but YOU, out of nothing, flame me n shah. n said we r idiots. saying somebody is idiot WAS WAY TO FAR MAN!!!!

like osaka09 said. the way u act actually reflected ur childhood. how u were raised. maybe it is custom in your family to say some one idiot. i really respect this osaka09. really wise guy.
if u can SEE carefully, there are many forummer have 2 teams n above.

why didnt u guys say anything bout it? n what is real fan actually?

yes, ill keep on repeating the same quest if u (air_mood) didnt answer it. if u think u wise enough, pls do answer me air_mood. coz im really curious here. answer me ths 2 simple question.

if u can SEE carefully, there are many forummer have 2 teams n above.

I'm going to put this to bed with this. If you bloody bothered to scroll back, you would have got your answer. Seeing that I see you and your partner as a plastic fan and there is a fair few that agrees with me on that, there sure as hell no way I'm going to answer your question on this real fan thing because if there's anyone I'll need to prove myself to, you sure as hell ain't one of em. And I'll be damned before I admit you or your partner as fans. It's an insult to those who stick by their team thru thick and thin. This thread is called a real fan for starters and it's an old one. If you bothered looking back, you'll get your answer. We had a very, very decent discussion on it before. Rest assured that it was a discussion of football fans, not casual fans. Throw your tantrums like a 5 year old, see if I bother.

I don't deal with flames. Flaming?? What do you think this is?? High school?? Primary school??? There was a very decent discussion going on which was backed up with facts and reasons, again if you bothered to look back and see. You and your partner on the other hand, throw incoherent arguments, keep repeating yourself asking why, how, who where when things has been explained time and time again and say things that barely makes sense and expect to respected for it?? So what if they're many forummers with more than 2 teams, you expect us to just acknowledge you're right?? Again, I'll be damned before I do that. Just because many do it, doesn't make it right. It might be acceptable here, but chances are you'll be slaughtered at a proper club football forum.

And as I pointed out earlier, I'll give a 5 year old respect if he deserves one, you don't. And how I'm raised or anything to do with my family is none of your bloody business ain't it?? Capiche??? Take your tantrums and moans and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Now piss off.

Don't mind people having a go at players. But what pisses me off the most is sau that one player has been good for a period of time. He plays one bad game and he's automatically declared as crap.

Or say a player has just transferred in, everyone expect them to set things alight. Case in point for Man United fans, Evra and Vida. They made many eat their words. I know of one United fan on here who even went to the extent of calling Carrick the next Djemba-Djemba. What crap ehh?? Constructive criticsm is fine, but when all they do is critic, b**ch and moan, it gets tiring really. There's a fine line between criticizing and moaning.

Yaya.... some of them curse AFC got to hell, they still think AFC cause the Man U cancel the trip game bcoz of the AFC ASIAN 2007, they even dunno thats bcoz of the Malaysia Boleh FAM stupid mistake. Maybe they are the real fans, but they too reasonless, but i m not that kind of reasonless, yes, i m Man U fans, but  i m seldom to post a word there.
*
I'm not talking about AFC. I'm talking about my club and the players. I do think AFC can piss off and don't really give a damn about them, just so that we're clear on that.

I don't like Liverpool, everyone knows that. So, me taking the piss out of Pool is normality really as they are our rivals. As is me taking the piss out of Citeh. Rivals, so I'm not expected to like them. Seeing them losing, going bankrupt is good fun for me. Ditto the point to Pool vs Everton.

QUOTE(Haunkiem @ Feb 8 2008, 04:54 PM)
OK , good , of course everyone is in agreement  about the shiet state of local football , I have no sympathy.

But do you feel an affinity with the guys of the glory days ?  you were alive then  , you must have realised the fevour our national team created , how come you don't feel a bond with the likes of the Wongs , mokhthar etc ?

I feel closer to these than I do any EPL player I can tell you that . It legitimies one's affinity for the game , a natural progression not some pondan who jumped on the bandwagon when Paul masefields uglymug appeares on TV.
*
You do realize you're in the LYN forum?? Most of the people here on in their early 20's or teens. The likes of Jonno, schmeichel7, Duke Red and madmoz are a rare breed here and by that I mean the ones in their very late 20's or the early 30's. So they are more likely to know and feel about the of Supermokh and all. Me, I'm 24 so I would have been most likely playing with toy cars or rattles at the point of time when the likes of SuperMokh, Soh Chin Aun and R.Arumugam were in the twilights of their career and was probably still little sperms and ovums when they were playing their best football. So it is not hard to understand. I do hear a lot of stories being told by my mom and uncles who were big football fans before they got married and were regular matchgoers at Stadium Merdeka then although after she got married, she stopped going so growing up in a non-football following family didn't help either.

SuperMokh is like Duncan Edwards to us Manchester United fans, never see them play but we know of their greatness. And again, with all the crap and roller coaster situations going on with Malaysian football, you can't really blame football fans from distancing themselves with teh team. With the vast amounts invested on the team, you'd expect the team to at least put up a fight but time and time again, they disappoint. We can even barely get to the finals of the Sea Games nowadays, let alone qualifying for the Asian Cup without being host. In my time, the best Malaysian team has got to be in the early 90's. We even won the 93 Merdeka tournament albeit beating a Korea Republic B side. We too beat CIS in the semis. The likes of Zainal Abidin Hassan, Dollah Salleh weres till playing then and Azman Adnan was a fresh face who had an excellent, excellent tournament scoring many goals in the runup to the final and eventually the final itself.. Nowadays we even have trouble beating New Zealand and Laos.

If you are so clever and ' young ' and can't remember local greats , how come you can remember edwards ?  That WAS even longer than Mokhthar and co.

*
Read up properly. Where again did I say we don't remember?? I said we never had the pleasure of seeing them play or at least enjoy it as most of them on here are too young to even bother about football I reckon, with toys more of a priority. And I said Supermokh is to me like Duncan Edwards, we hear everything about their greatness, no chance to see them play though.

Would have considered getting angry if it makes sense. But seeing that you are barely doing so, I'm not going to bother. Glamour pondan?? Now there's a new word. You have issues, sort it out.

what issues ?

Firstly, you sound very, very bitter about the foreign leagues. I don't know about the other leagues, but since we're talking about the English League here, let's start with that. Honestly, you sound like Richard Scudamore just gang raped or taken your milk money here. There's a reason why people like watching foreign leagues as opposed to local leagues. It's interesting and more attractive. Simple really.

Secondly, your constant reference to people who supports international leagues as 'glamour pondan'. 1st thing I got to ask, what are you...8? Either you have an affinity towards pondans or you are one, hence your fondness of use of the word, whatever the hell it is. It doesn't even makes sense for starters.

As I've said. You got issues. Sort it out.

everyone can say what they want but but some people have more right than others . full stop .

Semi -pro ( UK you bullshieters not local ! ) is 10 x better than most of the glamour types here.

Doesn't matter , I am now talking to UK fans and I told them all about the pondan ways of the locals , they are coming to get you - beware.

Oh...and you can stick that semi pro cert or whatever it is that you get where the sun doesn't shine. No one here really gives a damn whether you're an ex semi pro or whatsoever. Having a semi pro cert doesn't mean it will validate your opinion. And looking at your opinions, don't thing anything can validate it.

Some fella who supposedly played semi professionally in the UK was harping about being more 'rightful' about making soccer comments. Oh, and he called everyone else 'glamour pondans'. He threatened to call his UK 'buddies' on us as well doh.gif
I do recall him claiming to have served as a tory rep in london as well, so for a guy who loves the UK so much he seems to have a strange aversion to Bangsar - where i believe there are a fair few UK residents hanging out... he hates Bangsar for reasons unknown, and will invariably call/associate ppl who get in his bad side as Bangsar frequenters, in ALL of his threads!

p.s. Wasn't aware that Stan the Man Collymore's moved to M'sia and frequents LYN  rclxms.gif
*
He's on my hit list then. I don't frequent Bangsar, I live there. Hahaha.

But fact remains that the guy barely makes sense. 1st he was banging people left and right for preferring UK football over local one. Then he was claiming on how being agreed upon by posters from Uk made him all the greatest. Contradicting ain't it??? The glamour pondans remark just make me feel like he is no adult. The 'wanting to call his UK buddies on us' just solidify that argument I reckon. Like a small kid calling his borther when he is about to lose something. Thing is, it ain't even hsi brother...just someone who he thinks thinks he's right.

Back to topic please...  How about this, a exmaple,  i like England so much, i like all their player very very much, but each player got their own club, like Lampard at Chelsea, Rooney at Man U, Gerrard at Liverpool and Owen at Newcastle, so bcoz i support them, me also support their club too, so it is call as REAL Fan???  sweat.gif How about u guys think? It is ok to be a fan like that?

We've already stated why we think supporting multiple clubs be it in the same league or different is ridiculous and does not makes sense. Scroll back and you'll find your answer.
