Don’t be so hopeful. The more hopeful you are on Ferrari the bigger the screw-up. Lol

That Ferrari power “advantage” is not apparent anymore

Ferrari lost the championship at Monza already anyway.

Actually Seb partly at fault too. Not only Ferrari for their strategy call. He screwed up his lap at Spoon curve like Kimi did but only worse. Without that mistake, he would have started row 2 probably.

Watched. Nothing at the front was entertaining. Only Seb providing some entertainment. Thanks to his own mistake also anyway. Lol

Agreed about Monza result being the nail in the coffin because it kinda proved that whatever apparent power advantage that Ferrari had was all but gone. Next 2 races in US and Mexico are quite power-oriented tracks. I'm afraid the Mercs will just shame Ferrari even further

Naah Merc only lost a small battle but has won the overall war so they can afford to gamble with strategy.

Yeah, true. They were thinking to do something different to Kimi to give Lewis a better shot at winning. Just didn’t work out. But anyway, means nothing much except for restoring some Ferrari pride. The inevitable will happen in Mexico, unless Lewis has a stinker of a race...which rarely happens

Yeah, Mercedes engine is notorious of failure and not reliable since Hakinnen era. Bottas already blew one during free practice. Another engine failure coming soon, hehe

You’re too optimistic. Lol

Rubbish la this FIA, that was so dangerous on what he did to Sirotkin. We’ve seen other drivers penalized for less

Yeah I was expecting him to get a grid penalty too but the thing is Sirotkin was on an outlap so he did get hampered/loose any lap times, that's why FIA could not penalize Ham. The other thing is They're all on their outlaps where normally they would need to maintain distances between each other, and in this case somehow Sirotkin did not and went much faster than the rest. Maybe Ham should've been penalized for dangerous driving but the same case can also be argued towards Sirotkin coz he went much faster than the rest on his outlap. So looks like a bit grey area hence FIA didn't do anything. Would've been great for the show if Ham got grid penalty though.  biggrin.gif

I disagree with the drivers should maintain distances between each other during outlaps. We've seen drivers jostling for track position on their outlaps before. Yes, you might say Sirotkin was faster than the rest, but is there a ruling to say drivers are not supposed to exceed certain speeds for their outlaps? Even then, Hamilton was also not careful when Kimi was on a flying lap and Kimi had to go off the racing line although it didn't affect him too much in terms of time. The fact that Hamilton not being even considered for an investigation kinda reflects the perception of the FIA favouring him too often.

In 3 decades following F1, there's 1 thing that I certainly have learned: never read too much into the  off season tests! 😁

Exactly. Also, this test using 2018 version cars. Not gonna mean much for 2019. Teams are probably collecting a lot of tyre data only.

Yeah, not much point looking at day 1 testing times. Good to see Ferrari top the lap count on the first day though. Usually Mercs top the lap count in testing

Ferrari at least 0.5s ahead of Mercedes! Now they have secret weapon on engine power, front wing, and rear lowered during high speed runs! Wow, what a revolution.

Seriously, curb ur enthusiasm. And this is only the first test. And pretty sure Merc know what they’re doing. They’re experienced and good enough to either not show their hand early or improve throughout the year as what they did last year

Hahahah for all that “speed” in pre-season, this was absolutely embarrassing for Ferrari. Not even a podium and 35 seconds behind a Red Bull at race end. Almost a minute behind Bottas.

Early days yada yada. Next few races if they can’t even be within 15 seconds of the Mercs, might as well kiss the season goodbye. Because we know how Mercs and even Red Bull are for their in-season development

Looks like Mercs have bitten back at the Ferraris since Practice 1 this weekend. Bottas particularly looks on form

Strange, Ferrari fast on the straight, that's easy point to gain. How could Mercedes regain so much on corners? This is Ferrari we are talking about, it's not Williams which does not turn on corner, lol.

Let’s just say Mercs aero analysts and designers are probably amongst the best there is on the grid. I heard from commentator that Mercs have been strong in sector 2 this weekend where the high speed corners are. Enough advantage to counter Ferrari’s advantage on the straights.

After all of their might in testing, Ferrari comes out from the 3rd race badly bruised. Lol. 2 out of 3 races they got absolutely trounced

If Ferrari doesn’t get pole and win the race this weekend, there’s something really wrong with them.

Yup they bring some upgrades and leading practices with CL at the top. They need to get their own 1-2.

Practice 3 both of them finished ahead by some distance
