I applaud Alonso for his day of winning world championship with less competitive Renault. He managed to keep Schumacher and Raikkonen behind with his nice defensive drive. Many occasion Schumacher and Raikkonen not able to overtake him with faster car
*
Yup Alonso was excellent when he won those 2 titles. He was like an underdog who beat all the odds to win. However the Renault back then was at least a good chassis too and at least more reliable especially compared to the fast but fragile McLaren of Kimi that time.

so final race coming this weekend, can Hamilton beat the superior Vettel-Ferrari package? Since championship race is over, both race wheel-to-wheel, without fear of accident and engine failure. Haha.

I want someone else other than those 2 to win. laugh.gif

What a boring final race! Such a contrast with the earlier Australian Supercars climax where Scotty screwed up his race with 3 penalties and gave the title to Jamie!

And the F1 logo, the old one was way much better leh!

Next year enforcement of halo, i wonder why not windscreen instead?

Don't know, maybe the screen will be more problematic if raining (need wipers?? laugh.gif ) In any case, both are damn ugly! puke.gif

this still the best logo intro ever rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif

Yeah, Scotty's undoing was his poor move against Simona that spun her, hence got him a second 15 sec penalty.

Agree, that old logo during the 80s-90s was still my favorite too.

bloody heck this aussie V8 racing more dramatic than F1 2008 last race easily laugh.gif  rclxms.gif

even papa senna will be proud of that dirty cheating defensive blocking notworthy.gif  thumbsup.gif

i would like 2 see the reaction when an F1 car hit that wall ledge at 300+km/h
*
That's also typical Schumy move, blocking when the other guy is already overlapping. He had done that to Mika in Spa in Kemmel straight until Mika went to the grass before Mika attacked again in the next lap to overtake & win. He did the same to Rubens in Hungary if not mistaken, almost crashing Rubens into the pit wall but luckily Rubens just plow thru and Schumy relented. Senna did very similar to Prost in Portugal front straight after being done the same on the start by Prost (who squeezed Senna to the grass a bit) and this became the very start of their bitter intra team fight. Rosberg did the same to Ham in Barcelona that crashed them both.

The old dog Lowndes despite his dismal season, ultimately played a pivotal team role in helping Jamie won the title. If he had not challenged like that, Scotty would have still won the title.

already make F1 like slow arse boring mega_shok.gif  mega_shok.gif

this is the 1990 race starring notty notty brows.gif  brows.gif

*
Yah, that F3 race was crazy! But it shows how immature both those leading drivers were, racing all out until both crashed and gave the win away. That will never happen in F1 coz the drivers would have been more mature.

it is interesting to see how Liberty Media going to keep Ferrari happy. Sure, F1 can still exist without Ferrari, but it will not be the same. Imo, people watched F1 to see Ferrari win (ferrari fan), or to see other team beat them (the rest...haha).
*
It's a very sensitive issue with Ferrari coz they get the most money and surely would not want it reduced, that's why they threaten to quit. It's all about the revenue distribution. McLaren also still gets quite a big chunk of that pot despite not able to win a race for several years now.

Heidfeld & Frentzen were never championship materials in the first place, especially Heidfeld.

How about rosberg?๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿ˜ฅ
*
Rosberg is probably a good example of what a utter focus, hard work and training can indeed overcome a bit (not a lot though) lack of talent and finally win! biggrin.gif He probably lacks just a bit of the natural talent of Ham or Seb and therefore must force himself very hard to beat them and that's why it really came down hard on him and made him retire. He's probably the exact opposite of Kimi who is well known to be lazy despite naturally very talented to begin with. laugh.gif Surely still way much better than Heidfeld and Frentzen though (coz those 2 would never ever beat Ham in the same car no matter what!). I have to admit that I was wrong about him initially (I thought he will be just like the Massas, Coulthards, & Webbers who were solid 2nd driver but never able to become champ) and was (happily) surprised that he was finally able to beat Ham for the 2016 title.

Juan Pablo Montoya suddenly comes to mind. Your take on this?
*
I'd say very versatile driver who can race very competitively on anything on 4 wheels (Indy, F1, NASCAR, won ROC on his 1st attempt!). Very fast on occasion but just not consistently fast enough to win an F1 title. He looked fast when in Williams paired with Ralf but struggling to match Kimi in McLaren (granted that Kimi was at the top of his game back then and already settled in the team). Too temperamental for his own good.

In F1 they don't show too much of the girls too on TV, unlike in MotoGP or WSBK but still stupid decision.

does it mean no more F1 for Alonso? laugh.gif  bye.gif

No, he's still in F1. Despite not winning for how many years already, his influence is still so huge that WEC postponed 1 race (forgotten which one) by 1 week to accommodate him so that it won't clash with F1!
