Can't believe it has been 9 years, although I mostly remember Interlagos 2012 for the title battle.

Grosjean with a stupid divebomb, didn't even brake into T1. That's basically his first bad race road course (3 top 10s & 2 podiums). Still want him to fight for rookie honours against McLaughlin.
*
Yeah the Indy points have been swinging back and forth too between the 2 young guns, the smooth Palou vs the Ninja Oward, both against seasoned champs of Newgarden and Dixon. 2 more races only though and now Palou got decent margin.

The rookies, Scotty is better as he is more consistent with less mistakes but RG didn't run in earlier oval races. If he did, he might be closer to Scotty.

Current F1 is a funny one. The cars have gotten so long and wide that in some tracks, the car's width itself is blocking any overtake attempts.

They always thought about changing the aerodynamics to reduce dirty air, DRS to promote overtake etc etc, but at the same time the cars keep bulking up while the track remains the same

I havent followed F1 for a few years, but I dont remember seeing so many crashes in one season when cars were smaller.

These things increase in size so much that they're now bigger than F segment sedans
*
I agree, the current F1 cars are the biggest and heaviest they ever been and next year will be even heavier! Even LH complained about it before. Cars of the late 80s and early 90s were the best, much smaller and lighter.

It's due to the MGU-H, MGU-K and other aero regulations, right ?

Halo alone add 20-30kgs IIRC.
*
Yup the hybrid power unit and the increasing safety make it heavier.

90s is just nice. You can see V8 vs V10 vs V12 laugh.gif and they sound awesome too

They sounded wicked!

Funny because back then when F1 was on free to air channels (RTM, Media Prima) they had the better (BBC/ITV) commentators (Murray Walker, Martin Brundle, James Allen). Can agree Steve Slater sucks. I doubt Astro (or whoever picks up the broadcasting rights) would replace Brundle & Crofty's commentaries with their own (production costs).
Aesthetically they looked proportionally right/right-sized especially with taller wings & 2m-wide track (about 2m x 4-4.5m). 1998-spec cars looked kinda weird with 1.8m width.

Yup and the thing that also irritated me from 98 onwards was the grooved tires!

MV needs to win avg. 6-7 races each year for the next 13 years to be able to reach the same record at the same age. Tough record to beat.

Probably the only racing show/movie that I have 0 interest in watching. Maybe will watch it when I run out of tv series/anime/movie to watch.
*
Same I won't waste my time to watch it also, just no interest whatsoever with him. Anyway I had watched races and read news through out his career so no interest in revisiting them. I am watching Michael Jordan's "The Last Dance" instead! Lol

Don't know how even just a documentary can cause so much butthurt to some here laugh.gif

The film is doing great. 7.7/10 on imdb based on 7.6k reviews
*
Not butthurt, just not interested in him whatsoever due to his ways, that's all.

I watched it 2 days ago. Not bad. I'm not a big MS fan but I don't hate him too. Nice story. Hope Mick can improve his skills for the coming races though and live up to his Dad's legacy.
*
Doesn't look like it. Mick so far has never shown imense speeds that his dad had showcased immediately from the first race. What frustrated me with Michael was he had great speed to dominate yet he also still resorted to dirty tactis. Even at his old days when he returned to partner Nico in Mercs, he still did that (pushed Rubens all the way to the wall, and mind games to Nico to try get any edge that he already lost).

I don't really hate him that much but I agree with Guest. He did show great speed and talent when he started but then his subsequent actions especially when he was already dominating really turned me off. I think the word would be "unsporting". Part of his success, like Hamilton is due to a good car.
*
Yeah at the beginning I actually quite liked him and impressed by his speed plus his daring attitude of trying to challenge Senna, but then Adelaide 94 happened followed by illegality of the Benetton car, so I already started to question his character. I was kinda on the fence because I actually wanted Ferrari to go back to winning ways but then 97 incident with JV really just turned me off completely. Big kudos to him for rebuilding the Ferrari glory with Brawn, Todt, and Byrne, it was a juggernaut but unfortunately they also resorted to such tactics through out.

Interesting view on how the tire improvement after Baku may benefit Mercs

Meanwhile LH and MV are confirmed to be taking grid penalties due to engine change sometime in the next races but just a matter who will blink first. Both Mercs and RB are also planning to push their PU for more power in their own different way.

So MV blinks first. Might as well change PU now with the 3-place grid penalty in place already anyway
*
Yeah, it's logical otherwise have to sacrifice another race so might as well take it now.

Yup and I think this is a mercs track ?
*
Yup but this track has good overtaking chances. I think he got chance to be in top 5.

2 Merc, 2 McLaren, and only if SP let him pass he will be top 5.

Ferrari is bringing upgrade this week ?
*
SP needs to mess up Mercs but not sure if he can. If rain though anything can happen.

Not sure about Ferrari, doesn't seem so.

Wow Lando on pole!
LH only 4th after he stuffed it going into the pit then spun again on his final lap and VB not able to capitalize too with only 7th.
Good effort too by CS and GR for 2nd and 3rd. Looks like RB did the right choice to take penalty for MV.

Lewis hit the wall... Twice... LoL

Drama all year long... Still inter lap good enough for P4.

The slicks need a few laps to heat them up that's why thoae who switched first were the quickests as they managed to get more laps to build up the heat.

Isn't this the first time the top 3 grid are all younger generation drivers?
