Yeah without the incidents in Baku, Silverstone, and Hungary, MV would have been comfortably far ahead in the points. But never underestimate LH and Mercs.

Well from now on anything can still happen and luck can still swing in any direction. RB still has a weak point in their wingman cuz SP is still not as good as VB.

LH will have 10 place grid penalty for taking on new ICE unit but without any other accompanying accesories/parts. This could be a good decision especially if the RB still struggling a bit as in practices.

Yeah LH did well but with new ICE. Looks like RB a bit behind, not so good results for both RBs. So tomorrow both wing men have a job to do, VB to win and hold MV behind and same case with SP to hold off LH.

Yeah unlikely but SP managed to do it once in Baku. SP usually also defends harder, remember his A1 ring duels with Norris and Leclerc. VB is poor at defending and wheel to wheel battle.

Yeah the wet should give advantage to LH and MV but don't forget Norris and Alonso ahead of LH on the grid, both are good in the wet too.

So both wing men did their job today which is quite surprising especially VB leaving MV over 10 secs behind. Great duel between SP and LH, that's the highlight of the race.

KR should have been able to win more in Ferrari but he was just not fast enough compared to FA and SV. VB comparatively has been much more successful against LH than KR against FA and SV. He might still be able to win again this year if he really brings up his game cuz still got a few more races to go.

It can go either way actually and in the end Mercs chose to play a safer strategy to limit the damage than going more aggressive. If they went aggressive and not pit they can risk getting caught by those behind who had fresher tires, plus risk of blowing the tires.

On a side note, Ferrari closes up on Mclaren in the points for 3rd.

Btw anyone watched DTM too? What a dramatic ending as the guy coming into the weekend with an outside chance in 3rd ended up winning the title, kinda like KR winning in 2007.

Yup, the winner cried because he was so surprised to win his maiden title, then the guy who was initially 1st also cried cuz he lost the title after the guy in 2nd ram him off! Really feel sorry for him and he was still just 19 yrs old too!

In hindsight yes, LH should have pitted earlier like the rest but he was still quite fast at that time. Same dilema with CL.

Well actually Mercs sneaky tactic in Sochi to use VB as a blocker was sound, unfortunately VB did a lousy job at that! Lol MV was lucky to finish 2nd in Sochi.

Mine depends on how close the title fights are. Last year Motogp was first priority cuz more interesting with closer points and more different winners. This year F1 cuz closer fight plus finally possible new title winner after so long domination by Mercs. WSBK only this year I start to follow cuz TR matching and beating JR, previously never interested cuz boring due to JR domination. Then I also followed Indy and Supercars.

Btw so this weekend only WSBK ya.

Meanwhile, some analysis from planet f1 on the remaining races which may swing in Mercs favor! What do you all think?

Most analysts now feel the pendulum has started to swing in Mercs favour after VB was untouchable in Turkey. The condition was supposedly ripe for MV to dominate with LH in mid grid and wet track, but yet VB who's not known as a good wet driver easily won it! Imagine if it was LH starting as he should on pole, MV would have been much further behind. Mercs and LH are also traditionally raising up their game after mid season. So the signs might not look good for MV, we'll see.

When your rival's 2nd driver can easily beat your 1st driver in a condition supposedly perfect for you, you'd have every reason to be worry and try find anything you can to gain back advantage. Historically, Mercs and LH also often step up their game in the 2nd half so this raises further concern to RB.

FP1 done and the Mercs are much faster but VB takes another new ICE so will have grid penalty again.

Good pole by MV and not bad job by SP to be right up there. LH and Mercs will have their hands full now that it's their turn to be 1 against 2 RBs. LH was a bit lucky SP didn't able to beat him to 2nd grid cuz he was pretty fast this time.

Good race despite not having on track over taking but quite tense with the strategy play and the chase at the end. Great drive by MV to compliment RB strategy calls.
