try this method.. this is through my xperience and until know its still success
open all both your GPU and CPU heat sink.. clean all the thermal paste then put back a new one. since this GPU and CPU need very good air ventilation, FYI 360 have 2 big fan at the back of this console but after several testing and reading throughout internet, I found out it is proven that this two fan didn't suck the correct amount of heat they should suck from both GPU and CPU heat sink. If you look at the white plastic standard fan route design (I dunno what the name it's The main important thing is.. readjust all your 8 screw which holding the both heat sink to be firmly HAND TIGHT.. DO NOT over tighten or loosen this screw as the pressure play a big role on effecting the bending of the mobo when the temperature became hot. After finishing all of this, disconnect your fan and turn on your 360. wait until the light became 2ROD (overheat) and let it on 2-3 minute from the light start to showing the 2rod effect. (this to make sure all the solder contact became connected back if they have a dry joint). After that just make sure the system cool by itself then only you can tested it again. I found all this tut on the internet but forgot where the address its... |

definetly NOT SOO TIGHT and not too loose... just make sure the screw hold the heatsink firmly enough.

the 12v modification and the added xtra 12v fan with customization heat pipe to blow an air to the gpu indeed proven to revive any 3rod console. My console have been attack 3 times edi and since I done this modification everything seem in good condition. I even can feel the xtra 12v fan suck an air from the top of the console..
you also can improve the standard heat pipe functioning by added a separator in between the 2 fan (the separator in glued to the heat pipe). this alone already improve the air flow inside your 360 At least now we all have backup plan after the xclamp replacement fail to solve the problem. |

QUOTE(silencer @ Aug 3 2007, 02:30 AM) rezalida.....pictures speak louder than words.......as most of here have no clue on how to do it....is it a simple or complicated work??? silencer, the method is not that hard at all.. the hardest part for me to make the custom heat pipe from the xtra added 12v fan to blow an cold air to the gpu.. Ok...after some googling...here r several links with pictures for 12v fan mode: - http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=467270 http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/i...hp/t535735.html (with videos too...for variable speed with switches..only for PRO) http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/360-12V-fan-Mod.htm On the third link..I am pretty excited when I read the following sentence>>> You can also pickup 12V and ground at the DVD drive power cable. If your not comfortable soldering to your motherboard this is a great option guess...we do have the option if our post xclamp 360 died again...thnx to tot and rezalida...for the idea Just to give you an an info about the custom heat pipe. most of the mod out there just add the xtra fan without the custom heat pipe.. so I think the air flow from the fan are spread all over inside the unit. The purpose of this heat pipe is to make sure all the air from the xtra 12v fan being direct to the GPU heat sink following the path below the dvdrom. Even the solution that ms try to do by adding the xtra heatsink, I'm personally think that it would not enough to draw all the heat from that monster GPU.. and I agreed with tot that this xtra fan is a must to make the heat from the GPU being blow out from the unit. and I one of the successful survivor by doing this method.. wait for some picture .. I will try my best.. |

As I have promised before, here is the picture of the added 12v fan and also customize GPU heat pipe together with the heat pipe separator: ![]() this is a picture of a customize heat pipe from top. As you can see the heat pipe is placing directly below the DVDrom path. ![]() here is the picture of the added 12v fan which blow an air directly throughout the heat pipe and the GPU heat sink ![]() Here is the original 360 heat pipe for the original fan which I have already added the separator in between. ![]() separator top view.. As you can see I used the cardboard because it is more easier to bend it to cilok between those capacitor. ![]() As you can see here I have blocked all the possibly air leaking by adding a simple tape on those small gape. And by surprise this also increase the efficiency of the air flow throughout the GPU heat pipe. ![]() placing the DVDrom back and it ready to be back in action! This modification is meant for give a direct air to the GPU heat pipe since we cannot mount the fan on top of the heat pipe due to the design of the 360 itself. by doing this, my GPU are now running even cooler than before and this is a good for those extreme graphics like GOW and upcoming bioshock! hope this picture help you all understand the concept and as I said before the customize heat pipe is the only hardest part in this project. But it comes with a excellent result!! This post has been edited by rezalida: Aug 5 2007, 06:08 PM |

QUOTE(tot31 @ Aug 6 2007, 11:37 AM) rezalid, I think it's better for you to use duct tape instead of masking tape on the top of the GPU heatsink as duct tape can stand heat better than masking tape. I'm using duct tape to cover any gaps between the original air tunnel and the gpu heatsink. @silencer, thanks for adding my name at the 1st page, I will try my best to help the community |
