Anyone know what is the quantity to use when changing cvt fluid and brake fluids?
Is it 1 bottle (0.8L) of cvt fluids and 2 bottles (0.5L x 2) of brake fluids? Planning to buy myself (to avoid buying fake) and get my mechanic to change it. |

QUOTE(AhBoy~~ @ Aug 31 2023, 11:17 PM) CVTF 4 liter (0.8*5) and brake fluid 1L (if short, your mechanic should have some DOT3/4 in the shop can top-up, brake fluid not a big issue mixing except DOT5 which Civic system NOT using DOT5) Yup, saw in the manual too that dot5 is not allowed. For cvtf, any recommendations for brand? Or better to use back the standard Honda hcf2? |

QUOTE(AhBoy~~ @ Sep 1 2023, 03:39 PM) my own research - staying with stock Honda/Japan HCF-2. Thanks, good info. Japan hcf2 is the one in metal tin right? Any difference compared to normal hcf2? Was planning to buy it, but price is around 3x more expensiveReason: 1. Anything good based on online comment by other experience is expensive(some cost way more), eg: AMSOIL, RAVENOL, Castrol 2. Actually there many multi-grade CVTF rated HCF-2 compatible but not sure are those actual genuine fluid or any long term risk consider Honda CVT is quite sensitive(fragile) since there are many Honda CVT broken after 120k km onward 3. I DIY simple maintenance, I observed stock CVTF is cooked after 1.5 years and 30k km (dark and smell, jerk a bit on hot day, stop and go traffic) 4. So my personal strategy is get the CVT filters set changed (recently done at 90k and no long jerking slightly) and change CVTF using stock Honda HCF-2 annually (20-25k) FYI, there are some owners install CVT cooler and I might give the Japan HCF-2 on next change and see any different on long run. |

How often does your absorber last? For rear one, already change 2 pairs in 7 years. The front one need to change too in 7 years. Is this normal?

QUOTE(AhBoy~~ @ Jan 24 2024, 02:40 PM) Your usually route is really bad condition? What makes you change it so frequently? My road condition is ok. In fact for the rear one, I already change once during warranty period.mine 6 years+ recently changed tyre, shop say still okay. also checked by SC on 4th year before warranty end, no need to change. SC told me it’s already faulty and change it for free. I so glad the SC is honest. This is during the 3rd year I think. And I just change it few months ago, 7th year. Guys, have any of you use 3rd party cvt fluid for your honda? Instead of the standard honda hcf-2. Thought of using 3rd party one such as castrol, which is more expensive. Wondering will it be better?

Guys, especially those bought their fc first batch, your car is almost 9-10 years old already. Do u guys still using 0w20 engine oil? Or start to use slightly thicker oil like 5w30? Mileage should be around 180-200k km already on average.
