I understand the workings of it. I am not doubting how the process works.
As i mentioned, there are or could be other factors that could come into play and by your statement it might sound to many people as though you are representing Honda Malaysia that all cars moving from 1st of June will see a concrete 6% reduction while it is just an "expectation" based on your understanding of how GST works. Accountability for the statement is what is of concern here.
If it doesn't happen one way or the other, you are not accountable for it regardless of whether their explanation for doing otherwise is accepted by governing bodies or not. If they are found of wrong doings and it is agreed with the governing bodies, they will definitely be crucified for it.
This is simply why when motortrader reaches out for statements, they could not get any as there could be factors that are not known to you and me as we are not in the automotive industry. They are also scrambling to verify all their facts and any questions they might have before they would commit to answering their prospective buyers as the sales for the month where it is perceived as a "no tax" month will and most probably cause an increase in sales.
In the end, speculations do not equals reality, if it does then we are the benefiting party in this case. If it does not, we are just setting ourselves up for disappointments.
This is why we need to have more concrete news and information before making any claims. That is what i am trying to convey as i as a locked down buyer is also trying to stay neutral while hoping for the best. My decision to take delivery of the car can swing both ways depending on which is the most beneficial outcome for myself.
p/s: one way or the other, prospective car buyers will see no loss putting in a booking for a June delivery as they can still back out of it if conditions do not favor them. As for Civics, it might be a little harder as the raya holidays is coming up which means an assembly line closure not to be helped by the fact that Civic stocks are also not on the high side.
So, everyone just needs to use their sound judgement to see if this is the right time to make a purchases especially those that are taking deliveries between this 2 weeks.
If SST is not implemented by 1st June then by right those Standard Rated Goods should reduce by 6% because the 6% is meant for the government not for the business owner. There's no question about it.
I bought this car last year and I pay 6k GST. If there's no SST/6% GST and the price is not reduce then to me is just an act of profiteering by any businesses.
