QUOTE(rantingjay @ Nov 30 2020, 12:06 PM) Generic calculation of price depreciation assuming we take the dec-jan time displacement. May differ few K MYR depending on actual car condition/how kiasu the dealer/buyer is. That being said, IMO, next year car delivery will delay as HM will go back to their calculator to adjust pricing. So if they do not stray much from Covid pricing, expect lower rebate, vice versa. Plus a car is a want/need product for consumption. Should not concern much on resale value for depreciation asset. You are not flipping property. if you are selling it following that guideline, 2nd hand car dealer will be very happy to buy from you. lol generally if you selling to car dealer, look at the current market value and deduct 10% of it.. that's the min. selling price you should at least get ... out of curiosity i check my 2017 1.8s trade in value with a car dealer , they are taking in @ 76k to 77k. That's about 30k depreciated over 3 years that's 10k a year only..

QUOTE(rantingjay @ Nov 30 2020, 09:10 PM) Yes yes. The details i share is way off on any market standards. 10 to 15 % a year would be a better rule of thumb.10k a year is super good i believe. Point i was making is looking at resale value for a depre asset and trying to offset a year end deal is self inflicting pain to the soul. My case may differ from others so no judgement. I see myself trashing the car till it is not road/wallet worthy. Pre covid, total cost to own was 145k plus otr, got it at at 134k. So yea, this is how i justify willing to take year end stock. I would do the same or even take pre registered cars for better deals.

QUOTE(berann @ Jul 15 2021, 09:52 AM) How can it possible HIP 2x more expensive? You mean same insured amount .. HIP RM 3k while non HIP RM 1.5k? Etiga is also Honda insurance Panel. Try to get a quote from Honda HIP for Etiga. i just renewed my insurance HIP Liberty Insurance 74k 55% NCD + 2k windscreen RM 1,295... means if i renew outside i can get RM 650? HiP got a lot of extra coverage which of course is not free and is included in the cost of insurance. Thats why HIP so expensive which I already stop buying HIP last year.
