i tried it before, still not used to it, the interface is kinda messy, just the same feeling when migrating from msn 6 to 7

i think 6 to 7 wasn't that bad.. there were still some similarities... but WLM 8 is more Vista looking.. much more different... I changed the color to black.. looks more matching than the orange..

I recommend those non-beta tester not to get their hand dirty with WLM8 first

wlm8 icon is fatter than msn7.. and cant differentiate on the away, busy, brb, on the phone icon.. all look the same..
the offline msg and chatting while appearing offline is quite interesting.. ppl keep askin me y i appear offline and still chatting with them.. haha.. |

Hmm, this looks kinda interesting. Can't wait to get my hands on it and give it a try but I'll wait till the final release.
I think a drastic improvement made is the ability to offline message just like what we used to have in ICQ. |

Yeah.. the offline msg in ICQ really helpful.. dont the forget the "OK OH!!" which can wakes the whole neighbor.

now YM have offline voice messeging too..

windows messenger 8 kinda suck
the colours are interesting..but it eats huge amount of rams. and kinda sluggish.....it takes quite sometime to load.....but then again its beta....Oh but then again the site said it would perform similarly to the current full version of msn i had.....oh wait then they lied  |

Windows messenger live 8.0 is a memory sucker.... just now was as high as 100MB.... after minimised the windows, baru decreased to 24MB.... my memory peak performance was as high as 750MB in which my physical memory is just 480MB.. crazy

Hmm....i dun think that Live Messenger is a memory sucker......I assume that ur using 512mb of ram....add another 512mb......ram nowadays r quite cheap...
Btw, im using both 7.5 and Live messenger on my PC now....hehe..still no problems.... |

For my Windows Live Messenger 8.0, its used around 20~30mb. When minimize to tray, it used around 10~15mb.

Just go to http://ideas.live.com and click Sign Up under Windows Live Messenger beta. Fill in your Hotmail address, select your country and you'll be added to the list for an upcoming round of invites. I'm not sure what the turnaround time will be, but I do know this is the FASTEST way to get an invitation

 i already search in Windows Live Messenger Help about "Troubleshooting Sharing Folders"...but useless... but my frenz...share folder option n share folder icon appear on his WLM8...   any suggestion...??? |

i found a way to show the status of the contacts.. click the button beside the add a contact button.. n click show details.. the contact list will show like the 7.5 style with the display picture on the left and the status ( in words) on the right.. hope u understand what i mean

I cant get Live Messenger to work.
When I start it, it takes around 3 minutes to load. When I type my login name, it hangs for a few minutes. This happens everytime I type anything into the email or password box. For instance my email is genocider@hotmail.com, when I type the first letter 'g', it hangs a few minutes. Then when it 'unhangs', I type 'e' and it hangs again. So I tried copying 'genocider@hotmail.com' and pasting it, also hung. Then when it finally unfreezes, it says it temporarily cant connect. WTF. Dun have to worry..About the sending the offline messages.. I was like wondering when MSN will allow offline sending msg... at last they finally figured out how when icq and yahoo messenger had it for so long o_O The surface is clean and proper but I just hate it when i wanna go thru my list.. it will have the roll over effect.. and it's kinda annoying.. I have used for 2 weeks and I give up coz it's eating up alot of memory when u didnt quit it for like 1-2 days... and sometimes it will dc like mad  .. now i've switched back to 7.5.. alot of bugs.. couldnt stand it.. |

There are still lots of bugs. Thats why it does has many weird things happened in this version. My contacts keep showing that they are playing the same old songs, altho they didnt even listen to any songs.

For those who complain Live Messenger suck the ram, think second time about it. Honestly, it has brilliand memory management, it will free the memory its occupied from time to time, the beta team programmer did a very good job. 30Mb of ram usange is reasonable to me, furthrmore when it minimize it will free the momory to about 15Mb. If you see YM! 7 that use at least 40Mb constantly, that is what I call ram sucker.
For the case of 100Mb ram over, I think that's bug, hey this is beta. If you don't like anyting, send in a feedback. If you like you can even send a mail directly to them(help and support center, they will reply you), even you "bomb", them they still will reply you politely, I tried before.... There are some users that keep complaining that their friends are changing their long and "bombastic" display name frequently, and keep requesting messenger beta team to implement the features to rename the contact nick. I think they don't aware of this!!! It apeared since the very early version of Live Messenger. Even the MSN 7.5 have option of displaying name or email. Explore all the features carefully before you made your comment.

wlm will b not stable after patching Apatch.... after u nudge ppl.. then and close ur WLM. ur WLM will prompt for error.. |

i found a bug but i'm not sure if it's mine only ..
the block signal doesn't always show .. usually when you block someone the block symbol should be displayed beside their name right ? but the next time i run my msn .. the person is blocked but the symbol ain't there .. is show that as if it's not blocked .. but when you right click the user, the option 'unblock' is there so it shows that it is blocked .. just that the icon isn't there |

o_o i just applied for the msn live beta yesterday then i got an invitation to join this morning... and i can invite 20 people to join...

Hm. don't see much changes in the new BETA version that came out, but nevertheless, it's improving very well. Hope to see more new BETAs coming out for us. Btw your msn icon right, does it remains the same as the icon that is displayed in your taskbar is the same as the older msn versions?

1 thing is, in the chat window, if u send multiple msgs to ur contact, it all groups under
<YourNick> says (Time): xxxx xxxxxxx xxx xx xxxxx xxxx xxxxxx and same goes for your contact's reply. can this be disabled? but somehow i prefer the old style. anyways, love the new looks..shorter sign in time as well. really nice!! |

i've tried downloaded the Windows Live Messenger and install it....but there is a problem where i found that there is no contact list in the Windows Live Messenger
...but when i uninstall it and using back the old version MSN 7.5 it was working properly...so i wanted to know what is the problem with it? as many of u guys can use Windows Live Messenger without any problem.... I got this problem with logging on to the msn messenger. When i'm using hotspot then no prob but when i'm using my home wireless, i couldnt log in. Anyone who has knowledge about wireless setup that might be able to help me?

there are two possibilities;
1) your friends are using older version of messenger (Windows Messenger or Webmessenger) 2) there's an option to hide the avatar. |

hi guys, why my drawing tool cant work?
when i click on the pencil tab, the error pop up and say i need to install something. so, i click on help but nothing I see need to install. by the way, i just install my Live Messenger, any idea if this drawing tools need any file from Windows? |

If you enable polygamy(multiple msn) on the mess patch, your sharing folder will not be usable.

Uninstall and reinstall Windows Live Messenger again. Most importantly, delete the whole MSN Messenger folder in Programs Files before reinstalling Windows Live Messenger.

yeap, i did that as well. i'm doing system restore now. that's how desperate i am now

I have a problem here. I can't transfer(receiving files only) files through Windows Live Messenger. I had this problem quite a while ago. This also happen when i am using the Windows Live Messenger Beta. I thought that the problem will be solved after i install the final release of Windows Live Messenger. But, to no avail. The main thing is that whenever i click the accept button, the transfer does not progress and it just hang there(no matter how long is it). I even try to shutdown my ZA but the results are still the same. As i am using NAT, i have tried to portforward. The results? Still the same.

after i downloaded it i cant sign in... It pops out an error that telling me to send the report or not.. no choice..but i have to reinstall back my msn7.5 and i'm still using now.. Anyone experienced such problem too? |

i got this after i updated my WLM.. msnmsgr.exe - Unable To Locate Component This application has failed to start because WINHTTP.dll was not found. Re-installing he application may fix this problem. |

i personally find MSN 7.5 is better thn WLM in most sense..
first there is no display picture on contact list.. then there is too colourful around.. stuffplug 3 is not out yet.. plus live is also too complicated and colourful.. especially personal notification.. after i did mess patch.. when my mouse on the nickname.. personal message cannot appear anymore.. there isnt any away icon on the display picture.. always dunno is user online or not.. then nudge sound cacat.. terrible le.. hope that new mess patch will be out so tat the away/busy icon will reappear.. and also stuff plug 3 will be out soon.. other thn that.. WLM.. 3 star rating out of 5 star.. |

According to WLM blog, they are releasing a new version of WLM that has Yahoo Messenger interopability later tonight.

you'll need to signup the cross chatting

Hmm 1st of all sry for posting both sides but it happens both places ... does anyone know what is wrong with my computer/msn/wlm ? When i use as normal it's ok .. but when i leave it idle .. like over night .. the next morning my msn sure hang .. then i tot my msn got problem then i switched to wlm .. still like that .. is tat msn/wlm problem or my computer problem ? and the thing is .. once it hangs .. i can't ctrl+alt+del .. dunno y .. then hav to restart com ... sucks

But it's not flexible as expected.
Both sides (one WLM user and one YM user) have to sign up for the plan/get the latest version in order to use the function. How do you expect me to tell all my friends using YM: "Hey you please sign up for the plan so that I can contact u via WLM!" |

Somemore their live features are lagging and too slow especially for Windows Live Mail when reading emails.

i lost my msn contact list...i jz reformat my laptop 2day...i m using WLM b4...but nw ..lost all my contact..when i online..my fren cant c me online..wad happen ?? help help help !!

Sometimes i also facing the problem of cant signing in..But after u connect more few times or restart comp then its ok adi.
Then, secondly, sometimes i have connected but when i send msg to other ppl. They cant get, or the other way that my frens send me msg i cant get... haizz....there are still some prob of this live msg la.. But it looks cool and the functions are great.. I like the telephone function... Nice nice... |

Streamyx seem to have some problem on my side. Since yesterday this message kept appearing "Due to a connection problem, changes you make might not be applied to other computers you use".

guys, i need help !!
i cant sign in msn messenger after i changed my hdd. firewall off(i just installed windows xp, now no antivirus program and no firewall) i've tried all the version 7, 7.5 and the latest live messenger. this is shown everytime i tried to sign in.
