My landed type house using single phase system
All the lamps will flicker suddenly. Sometimes very frequent sometimes not at all
Today suddenly the lamp and fan became very bright and spin very fast, last for few seconds before went back to normal.

On my right side the house is vacant, I asked my neighbor on the left and he said he didn't experience all that, which I doubt very much

When all these things happens, I never switch on/off anything. Nothing.
The only thing I turn on all the time is the fridge. I switched off and flickers still happen.

Should I just call tnb? These happen for a week already.
Anyone of you have this kind of experience?

Call TNB and ask them to check their sub-station.

It happened to me once and blown some of my appliances (including my neighbors).

Rempit stolen some metal parts inside the sub-station.

Borrow ur friend clamp meter and measure the voltage .
It should be +10 -6% variance from the 230v.

I measured and it is normal
But i can't see the peak voltage coming so I didn't measure at that particular moment

Will do. Is it something to do with my meter and the two fuses around the meter?

If you have PC better plug it off until the fluctuation problem is fixed.
It can damage your PC especially hardisk.

Someone stealing neutral bar at the substation.
Report to tnb

In the mean time, be ready to kill the switches.
Else install a overvoltage relay to trip the main breaker

Nope. Mostly from TNB.

Either like CKKwan explain or voltage coming not stable.

Your neighbour might not have the same problem because his line is another line.

1phase to you. 2nd phase your Neighbour. 3rd next next Neighbour. And repeat again.

Sometime tnb trip only 1phase, but your Neighbour got power.

it could also be one of your neighbour doing renovation.
the live wire shorted to neutral causing the voltage increase.

really recommended to get a voltage stabilizer for all your equipment. not very expensive

A fluctuating voltage is usually a problem with the Phase/Neutral connection..

Get a competent to check the consumer side distribution network then if good then make complain to the supply authority..

Voltage fluctuation likely caused by broken or missing Neutral connection at TNB substation.
For single phase residential houses, TNB will distribute the 3 phases evenly among the houses to achieve a statistically balanced loading. When loading on the 3 phases are balanced, a missing Neutral will not cause a voltage spike or a voltage dip. However, when the loading is unbalanced, the phase having a lighter load will see a increase in voltage and the phase having a heavier load will see a voltage dip.
Contact TNB to rectify the problem.
