I have finally switched to Windows Vista - Home Premium.
To my surprise installation was very easy and there wasn't any driver problems. So far so good with it. |

QUOTE(lclun @ May 12 2007, 08:38 PM) You are reinstalling what windows? Windows Vista or XP?For Vista, you don't need to reinstall any drivers. All dell 6400 drivers are available in the Windows Vista installation. You just need to update the drivers if you want to. Added on May 12, 2007, 9:21 pm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Logitech Alto keyboard and laptop stand QUOTE The keyboard plugs in via USB and the cable is neatly recessed under the stand when it's folded away. There are also three additional USB ports on the stand - two at the rear and one on the right-hand side at the back - so you can plug in a mouse and other peripherals. But this isn't a docking station as such, so other cables and add-ons will need to connect to the laptop as usual. Check this out people. New product. QUOTE(silbii @ May 12 2007, 11:32 PM) anyone tested the 6400 to play some HD DVD movies? Is it jerky? Coz i downloaded a 1080p Fantastic 4 trailer and it jerks a bit during playback... Sometimes video jerk doesn't mean it's the hardware problem.for info, the specs for my Dell are Intel Core 2 duo t5300 2gb ddr2 sdram 120gb hdd so u think it's enough for true HD playback? wuts the minimum requirement anyway? coz thinking of collecting HD dvds now... I could be the video codec's problem. What video player do you use? Try using VLC Player. |

QUOTE(CosmicZone @ May 14 2007, 08:01 AM) I found serious delay in nudging when using Windows Live Messenger in Windows Vista. Delay meaning your friend gets the nudge later?Do you all notice this problem? I supposed this is the compability issue between the OS and the messenger... anyone has any suggestions/experience on that? Delays are caused by internet traffic, not the OS/Software. |

QUOTE(steventan85 @ May 14 2007, 09:19 PM) get another 1gb .....it can also run dual channel ...i done it b4 d... steven, are you joking?i hav run it for 1week+ and it show dual channel on the CPU-ID there sufficient ? depend on how u use it .... if u run aero on it , it may juz enuf only ....but then if u switch it off , it is sufficient enuf .... one can never run dual channel without 2 similar sized rams. Even if the cpu-id show dual channel, I am sure that is a bug. Dual channel have a proper configuration only can work. The best is to check using your laptop system bios. I came across certain people that says dual channel would be a lot better with applications but when it comes to games single channel and more RAM will perform much better.i dun really think that 1.5gb ram will lose to 1gb dual channel ram , am i rite ? running higher capacity ram is better than running 512mb ram x 2 ..... |

QUOTE(valent @ May 20 2007, 01:47 PM) Hello guys. I thought you are supposed to let your laptop run for quite some time if you first startup a brand new laptop with Vista?im really upset with my Inspiron 6400 now. ive been using pc for almost 10 years now ok, this is my first purchase of Core 2 Duo[1.7gz 533mhz] laptop. [previously owned a Intel Centrino 1.6gz] i order with Vista + 1GB Ram / Ati x1400 when i first receive from the package. it was all new and stuff i boot it up.. and load up to Vista but it was stuck for loading like more then 30 minutes. then rebooted again, and same thing keeps happening. well i got pissed, i formated it then i install WinXP Pro sp2 everything was fine. but the thing i notice. my 6400. always have LAG SPIKE in running anything. even normal window explorer opening folders sure got LAG SPIKE. [ formated twice winxp. same thing] i can say my old centrino runs even faster and smoother then my new 6400 with core2duo now this is really pissing me off already.. its worst then any other pc/laptop i owned. can be this unit be FAULTY? or do you guys get constant lag spike with core2duo? sigh.. help My laptop is running Vista Home Premium with CD 2.0GHz with no problems. Used to run Windows XP SP2 with no problems also. I am surprised by how stable Vista is on the 6400. |

QUOTE(valent @ May 20 2007, 01:57 PM) Yep, let it ran for sometime cos Vista needs to setup by its own. You should have called dell right asap?after that.. whole Os stuck there.. yeah. rebooted and tried alot of times. same thing so i switched do XP. but the thing is.. the laptop randomsly lagggggggg.[fresh windowxp pro] hmm.. worst thing is slower then my other pc/laptops They could have done something for you. They might even throw in a few goodies to compensate for your lost. |
