QUOTE(WildChai @ Jun 24 2009, 12:30 PM) one of the main point of me buying the house is to have a big enough dedicated AV room....heh heh. You must have bought a big house Seriously a single room of 24 x 18 is very large, that's even larger than the living hall of any terrace house and most semi-d's. Anyway, you would be able to setup a very comfortable AV room in there. Congrats.

QUOTE(geforce1999 @ Jun 29 2009, 04:37 PM) Sorry for asking... All the while I use bare cable without any banana, do you normally have the shop do the banana crimping or you get the banana and do it yourself? One size fit all or need to check the thickness of the cable first? Banana also got different types. Some you crimp, some you solder, some you screw down. Those that are crimped might not be 1 size fit all. Those really thick wires like 10 AWG might have trouble. But if you're not using so thick then should be ok.

QUOTE(geforce1999 @ Jun 29 2009, 04:51 PM) Thanks for the info. Any recommentation for value for money banana brand and model? From reading the forums I see a lot of people buy from monoprice. I think someone here also bought from there. Might be the cheapest alternative.

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 29 2009, 05:42 PM) jchong, since you are going to repair your special OTO SE, you can ask abt their AN banana plug. I think it is a dizzying RM50/plug. Asking is no problem... buying is the problem! At RM50 each, cost of the plugs will outweigh the cables. Anyway, I'm using bare wire connection now. But if I ever decide to use bananas I still have a few pairs of bananas from Monitor Audio (leftover from earlier years). Nice solid pieces. Added on June 29, 2009, 6:44 pmQUOTE(arremie @ Jun 29 2009, 05:47 PM) This one looks good enuf if you want them cheap.... Nakamichi....plus got 2 grub screws more secure. I have a few exactly like that Nakamichi one, except the jacket is plain and doesn't say Nakamichi. Yes, quite secure since it has 2 grub screws. But much more lightweight than my MA bananas. Nice setup there yonggoh. Of course can be considered HT since you've got all the ingredients - TV, BD player, AVR, 7.1 speakers. You should also post it over on this thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1000020

QUOTE(htkaki @ Aug 14 2009, 07:11 AM) Seems rather quiet for now. Probably, it will be 'active' again in Mid Sept with photos of a few setups with big subwoofers popping up here So your SVS shipment reaching our shores in mid-Sept?

QUOTE(maryjane9996 @ Aug 15 2009, 01:00 PM) guys.how u connect power cable that mount on the ceiling from pj ? u make it longer by modify it or buy a new one ? For me I had a power point made in the ceiling near the projector. But if your power point is further away then I suggest you get a new longer power cable.

Try some PC shops. I'm sure they sell the longer generic IEC power cables.
But how long do you need?

Nice room Imaz. That wall space screams for a much bigger TV or a projector screen What do you mean by "no wires in sight"? I think you can't runaway from all the interconnects, speaker cables, power cables, etc... and some of which are already visible in your room pic.

QUOTE(arremie @ Sep 17 2009, 12:57 AM) i donno why people keep saying that for tv. if u look at people who use projector, the center screen is always higher than the head but nobody says anything Here is the recommended vertical viewing angle: http://myhometheater.homestead.com/Verticalviewing.html Added on September 17, 2009, 10:08 amQUOTE(azbro @ Sep 17 2009, 08:41 AM) hmm...true, my center speaker is a bit low...after you mention it, I'm gonna angle it a bit upwards...thanks Yeah, they always say center speaker at ear level is best but in practice it's impossible to do because the screen or TV would be occupying that space (unless you use AT screen and place the center speaker behind it at ear level). So, angling it up to the ear level is the best practical solution. This post has been edited by jchong: Sep 17 2009, 10:08 AM

QUOTE(de_lasoul @ Oct 7 2009, 11:23 AM) Bro, thanks. can't help noticing the futball scene on your TV. Looks very clear.. source from Astro? Even plasma may not display the source from Astro that clear.. taqies doesn't reside in MY, so that is not an Astro transmission

QUOTE(taqies @ Oct 7 2009, 05:54 PM) Unfortunately I'm not keen on ported sub design and that rules out SVS, currently negotiating on getting a custom made sealed sub from US with AESpeaker AV15X driver. So you have chosen the AV15X driver, means you found someone who can build the cabinet and also install a matching amp? What amp did u choose? Can you share what is the cost breakdown for going the custom route? This is something to consider... QUOTE(qwerty79 @ Oct 29 2009, 12:36 PM) Thank you for the confirmation. Do they have online sale or postage services? I went to A&L branch here yesterday but the shop is close and the shop look like a store with many boxes and no show room. I don't think A&L does online sales. Since they have a branch near you I'm sure they can arrange to send the bracket there so you can do local pick up. Why don't you send a PM to forummer CT Seong (since he's from A&L).
