ps3 can bitstream ka? i thought only linear PCM? i oso kanfused

can bitstream legacy dts , DD and 2 channel pcm

so shoud i set audio output from PS3 to bitstream instead of linear PCM? thanks.

for PS3, you need to set it to LPCM to get HD audio.

if u set at bitstream, u won;t get the lossless HD sound.

that's what i thought.. thankx... guess there's no updates to get it to bitstream HD audio

hardware limitations, dun think any updates can solve it

is it truly a hardware limitation?

i would think its more complicated to do the decoding onboard rather than passing the raw material and let the AVR do the dirty work

yes hardware limitation.. not at decoding level but rather, at the HDMI interface chip level..or so I've read..

the sony S350.....isnt this bitstreaming DTS-HD MA only? and not decoding it onboard?

the S550 can decode....

I wouldn't know about S350, but the PS3 limitation in on the Silicon Image Chip (which using a old model IC) supposedly can't bitstream DTS-MA but no comment from manufacturer.. (hollywood insider on the forums say it can't)
