Dahon Curl

How to fold and unfold

Still think that they should put more effort on the vertical fold model, eezz and Q8 instead of coming up with a brompton alike, with a ugly hump version.

How do u guys choose a handle post length? I'm in a dilemma if i should go for 39cm handle post or 34cm handlepost. It's non adjustable so any advice?

This will be pair with Fnhon FGC 1611 frame, 349 wheelset.

This one only you can decide. To know is to get an adjustable one and find your preferred setting.

Come to think about it, they should offer fixed handle post range from 25cm to 45cm with 0.5cm increments…

*PS, don't forget the tilting angle too.
*
The particular handlepost i'm seeing only have 3 option, 39cm, 34cm, and 30.5cm, the new 3D handlepost from fnhon, i really miss the tern physis 3D handlepost so i hope this meet my expectation.

Seems like a safe bet is 34cm, 39 seems too long and 30.5 seems too short.

this is the different 30.5 and 34cm

user posted image
mine are 30.5 (silver) and 34 cm (white). should be likely look like the example picture

anyway,
this is how i fold. still compact and just nice

user posted image

Seems like not much different. I will stay with 34cm then.

Why do u need to fold that way tho? cannot sandwich the handle post?

I just found out about the fnhon handlepost before place order. only add 60RMB for matt color finish, quite a good deal so why not.

I am using fnhon 3d handlepost with 34cm length.
I change bcos i dont like the ride position when using my previous 40cm.

some more with shorter handlepost it just aesthetically pleasing to look at the bike.hehe smile.gif

Previous look with the 40cm

Anyway, i also had a tern link d16 before.as for stiffness comparison, this fnhon 3d handlepost is no match to terns.
The tern is like zero play/wobble and soo stiff AF even when you off saddle climbing hard.
meanwhile fnhon 3d still got a little flexes no different than its non 3d version.

I think the headtube/headset design play more important role than the handlepost itself as i feel the flex from my fnhon come from that area
*
That's exactly what im thinking biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I think Tern handlepost clamp play a role on the stiffness as well.

Do u have a updated 34cm handlepost photo from side? Yours is 349 or 305 wheelset?

i try to fold normal way, but my shifter and liver getting the way on the frame to get compact. even if i release the qr on the handlepost to make the handlebar loose also cannot. it can fold, but not to compact and the magnet wouldnt attach. maybe the shorter length handlepost cause it. i look at my friend who are using the longer one (39cm) and no problem.

if i got money, i would buy the litepro handlepost that fold outside, but the price is around rm180 for it.

now, i dont care, this type of method fold compact. so im happy with it. save money laugh.gif
*
The FGC 1611 doesnt support magnet system, and the 3D handlepost doesnt come with fold outside option so i hope i don get the problem.
Even if i do, i will just half fold most of the time, use the handle post to roll the bike around.

Don know which model from Kenda. The seller didnt charge anything to change from 305-349 with kenda tires. If Kojak extra charges. trying to be cheapskate biggrin.gif
My front wheelset is not perfectly true, shifting is not index properly, solved the shifting but need to send to local shop for wheel true.

the kojak is 32 height where marathon racer is 34. my friend try to fit marathon racer 349 to his zephyr and the rear tyre stuck a bit with rear triangle (seatube). another option is joseph kosac tyre is 25.

i cant find any cheap kenda tyre. if u can read on ur tyre (and ur tyre height profile) what model it is, please let me know.

problem is the price
kojak is around rm75 (here rm65 at rodalink)
marathon racer is rm135
joseph kosac is rm150

thats why i plan to find some cheap tyre for my other friends to convert from 305 to 349 icon_idea.gif
dont scare for rain lah bro. rain wont rust ur frame unless u had chipped/paint problem. as long after the rain u wash and wipe then it wont be a problem. been using speed p8 (chromoly frame) for quite sometime (touring and so on) and had ride under bad weather (heavy rain also) still no rust until now.. thumbup.gif

i do had problem with that bro. if before ride got rain, off coz i would cancel the ride and no mood to ride. and if the rain stop, i will use bike with rear fender such as my dahon speed p8.. whistling.gif
*
Let me go back and look for the label.
Surprisingly the kojak is not too expensive tho. RM65 each mean Rm130 for a pair, quite a good price.

Yea my roadbike is crmo and i don care about the rain. Parcel arrive yesterday and spend sometime to tune the index shifting and half way rain. segan abit. Tonight gonna test hehehe

hahaha... for kampung feel like ipoh rm65 is pricey lor..
scouting for tyre around rm25-35 and thats why im looking for any kenda tyre for it.

i've been using kenda 1.2 tyre on my previous setup 305 wheels. surprisingly, the performance not bad at all. same goes to kenda kriterium and kenda kotender (ettige gave me).. the drawback of both tyre is soft wall.after 500km better careful and ready to change another set.
*
I think mine came with this 1, based on the threading and the price.
https://world.taobao.com/item/543997422853....bucket=4#detail

True that RM65 still at the high side if compare to cheaper brand. I got quote extra 200RMB if want KOJAK and decided to stay with kenda, gonna be my santai ride bike and pasar malam bike. The only downside is doesnt look as good as kojak la... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

never use bidon on foldie position like my fnhon. bcoz i had too many bad expirience bottle falling out from cage (especially cage attach with body and flat). besides those bidon arent cheap neither, so would u take the risk?

user posted image

only i use facing up and near me (with special adapter).also on rb no problemo. i normally didnt drink 100plus when riding. i like to drink coke more than 100plus (coke only when im cycling).i also never fill cabonated drink on my bottle.
*
RB i have no prob, other than the fact that my rb only have 1 cage mount and i need refill regularly.

The adapter on your tern looks nice. Brand and price?

Anyone here have updated ETS train information? A few policies changed and i'm not sure which 1 is the latest. I'm planning to back my hometown at alor star with ets for 3 days, bagged.

Based on AhPek Biker, they now allow bagged foldie to go on board as per update at 10th May 2017.

hows the folded size? mind to share?
i like the seat, looks so good on your green bike. very old school look

Cost me less than 2k include shipping and upgrade to 3D handle post from taobao.
There's local selling selling in some fb group with slightly higher price but I think it worth the mess to order online and do your own tuning after that.

I'm using a 349 wheelset so doesn't fold as compact as original it came. But can be fit perfectly into IKEA dimpa bag.i usually leave the handle post unfold and roll around. This frame doesn't support magnetix system but it's quite easy to roll around because there's more friction at the hinge compare to Dahon or tern. In fact I find it even easier to roll compare to magnetix system.

The saddle is brooks B17, one of the best saddle money can buy thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif
