even if they're gonna do such thing, banning of IPs happen on the server, no need to wait for update... :S

Well, I'm not gonna say where I heard it but it is from another local forum. Actually I know that IP banning can be done at anytime without any update to our console, but rumor is just a rumor so just letting you guys know about it.

Maybe MS finally putting some detection systme in the new update to detect modded console? We never know...

lets put it this way... bill gates plays his box happily in the states... when he goes on vacation to another country thats non-xbox live .. plugs in his box and he couldn't connect to live..wouldn't he be pissed on what he did..

edit: of course this is pointing to us non jack sparrow users.. as for jack sparrow users i've got no idea whats ahead for u...

Talk of IP-based restriction has been around ever since Video Marketplace went online. Last time there were talks of restricting marketplace contents, specificially video contents to only IPs that belongs to each country. That did not happen.

What did happen was they restricted MS Points purchase via credit card based on IP (if I remember correctly). So if you have US account and you're staying in Malaysia/Singapore, and say want to purchase MS Points, the only way to do it is to buy Asian MS Points card. A US points card won't work.

yea and major nelson did specify that theres no IP restriction to xbox live.. only to video marketplace and maybe live marketplace ...

i don't believe there will be IP restriction to connect to LIVE. there are many people from one country but staying at other country. e.g: US soldier stationed at Afghanistan.

not only that, we generate alot of revenue for them. .think about it.. if there are 200 of us minimum then generate USD 60 each thats USd 12000 minimum for xbl alone not to mention all the content and games we buy.. they print money from us la.. why would they wanna ban us if were giving them money.

i think la... if they ban also they will ban the modded console...

absolute rubbish. Microsoft Singapore is aware that quite a lot of Malaysians are on Live right now and we are paying good money.

haha, i doubt they really care to ban ip coming from unofficially supported countries. they could just have ban credit cards not matching their addresses to be more effective.

maybe some team is starting xboxlive malaysia, and they wanna ask current gamers registered with sgp addresses switch to newly recognized M'sian gamertags? haha, one can dream......

Same like it is here... If they're earning lots of money from it the services are good but if it's something they don't earn money from then they might as well close it down. Like condominiums are being built really quickly but services from TMNUTS and anything that's to do with Immigrants instead of locals are totally messed up(visa, PR, Citizenship).

update can download and burned to CD meh? i also scared update with screamyx. it's like doctor telling you there's 50/50 chance your console might not make it after the update.

the update includes H.264 video support. Does this mean that the X360 will finally play .avi files

IINM, only gonna play .mp4 files. i need the update to support matroska, for the subs.
