I like how the dv6205 has an integrated webcam and a dedicated gfx card... That's part of what I was looking for specwise... otherwise I'd probably have more choices given the price range of 4k

I saw the dv8302tx and mmm, that gfx card looks nice-- but I don't think it comes with a webcam (does it?) and 17" inch is wayyy too big. Looking for 15.4" at most as far as monitor size goes.
The A8Jr- is nice, tho... Might end up getting one of those instead. We'll see hehe, I still have 2 months to decide This post has been edited by Karinett: Apr 9 2007, 07:56 PM |

I have a dv6205tx!
Very happy so far, everything going smoothly. I notice a loud whirring sound that turns on and off from time to time though-- is that the harddrive? It turns on at seemingly random times so I can't be too sure... This post has been edited by Karinett: Apr 15 2007, 09:42 AM |

I haven't had problems with the webcam so far... only thing I noticed is that when I first turn it on, it'll be dark, then brighten as it adjusts to the lighting-- and a few seconds later it'll flicker back to dark and bright again.

I never got cd's with my laptop... how much did you pay for them? And would I still be able to order some?

Been having problems with installing games... I keep getting crc errors. I poked around the net a bit and it seems I'm not alone in my problem (lots of people with the same games have problems too).
Those boards usually say that it's either the disks, my optical drive or incompatible ram that's the problem... Anyone getting similar issues? I can run cds/dvd's on it fine, and haven't had problems with installers (could install Diablo2 fine with a dvd) until this last batch of games I tried to install. Should I send it in for repair? I have no other dvd-capable drives at home atm so there's no way for me to check if the disks work there |

QUOTE(sidewinderz @ Apr 22 2007, 05:53 PM) yea...me 2....sometimes i had a tough time reading discs.....i guess its the batch...you could send back to hp and complain bout it...but if they test their disc and it functions alrite, i dun htink they will change it for ya... Well, my problem isn't reading the disks... I've been able to read most so far, cept a few that also don't work on other dvd readers. I've been getting crc errors mid-installation for all the games complaining about different files, and while I can just hit ignore and finish the installation... well, my games would have missing files and I guess they won't run perfectly. Maybe it's the batch, I bought them all from the same place. |

QUOTE(tom_k3nt @ Apr 23 2007, 11:37 AM) If u check back the previous post, i have mention b4 the drive cant read cd efficiently... i think the only solution is get an external drive... Should I try and return the disks in exchange for others? I just don't know if the guy will believe that all of them don't work for me, but at the same time what a waste of money This post has been edited by Karinett: Apr 23 2007, 12:30 PM |

I've noticed that whenever I turn my laptop on after a long period of inactivity (I was at work for about 9 hrs) I'd find the battery depleted to about 92-94%, despite always running on ac power. Is this normal? Doesn't seem so...

Beyond--- it's turned off. Complete shut down. That's why I'm unsure as to why the battery depletes.
Kelvin-- the 6205tx was replaced by 6227tx recently, but it's got the same specs and cost the same price. The only difference is a slightly faster processor, and yes, it does have the hp imprint (black and silver, whereas the Compaqs are just a charcoal gray). It costs around 3999--- and the freebies that come with it is up to your bargaining skills. This post has been edited by Karinett: Apr 24 2007, 09:57 PM |

QUOTE(VinceFS @ Apr 28 2007, 10:37 PM) Firstly: I don't have problems with my boot up and shutdown times... it takes me very, very little time to get into the login page, and just a few seconds to get into my desktop. I didn't time it but it feels faster than my XP pcs. Sometimes it'd take a bit longer before I can actually get on Firefox and start browsing or whatever, but that's just a handful of seconds again (as all the start on Windows stuff load up I suppose).I am having some doubts concerning the performance since it takes a lot of time to boot and to shutdown. Boot Time: 3:45 Shut Down Time: 1:30 I would like to know if it's normal compared to your dv6000 please and if any of you could time the boot time and the shut down time, it would be great, i would like to have a comparison. Thanks. And if any of you could suggest what i could do to improve this, please let me know. Shutting down doesn't take me a long time, either. But I tried logging off once and I noticed that when I came back 30-40 minutes later it was STILL logging off, so I had no choice but to force it to restart.
