Guys, need some advice.
This is my first attempt to mod my stock pickup.
If i were to switch from active pickup to passive pickup, what are the item that i must have aside the pickup itself?
Would it involve major mod on the guitar? i.e. drilling, etc.
May you suggest shop/tech guy who can do this.
Thanks

If you buy EMGs they will come will all the parts you needed (stereo jacks, 25k pots, quik connect wires..). Just need to cut of the wires from your existing switch and screw them into the board provided.

Thanks for your reply. Does it mean vice versa if you want to switch from active to passive? The pickup provider shall include the necessary item? May you also suggest tech/shop that can handle this, if any?

Actives to passives ?

Get some pickup rings / mounting rings, these will cover up the extra route space originally for actives

Passive pickups don't provide the parts for installation, not like EMGs normally do.

Meaning that you may install directly or must purchase necessary item separately?
Sori banyak tanya, just to make it clear.

passive pickups manufacturers dont provide parts like EMGs because most guitars are passives and the parts inside your guitar already work fine with passive replacements.

active pups like EMGs doesn't work with the stock parts in guitars with passives pups, thats why they provide the parts as well.

And changing to actives you have to take account the battery placement as well, to see if theres any space that can fit them.

Haven't seen much update in this thread, but on a personal level, I kinda forced myself to keep using a 7 because of my project band. Had to come up with a good excuse in order to keep playing it instead of just a 6 string all the time hahaha. U still play frequently with 7s?

I myself rarely play any guitar nowadays.
I'm fully occupied at the moment.
Tali pun sudah karat.
By the way what string did you use? Gauge, tuning.
Saja sibuk nak tahu.
Your guitar floating or fixed bridge.

Fixed bridge, I'm allergic to floyd rose and anything that remotely resembles floating hahaha.

I'm currently using a rather thick gauge, 11-49s on the 1st 6 and 52 on the 7th, which is quite hard and tiring to play. Had initially bought them to play drop C on a regular 6 string. Now have to wait for them to rust to justify buying a new set for replacement, but Elixir's just don't know when to quit.

Same goes to me, previously kinda into floyd rose. Konon tiru Vai, Slayer stuff.
Nowadays prefer fixed for tuning stability and ease of string replacement.
By the way has anyone tried this guitar, Ibanez RGIF7 Fanned Fret?
How to play barre chords? Just wondering...
