Are there many diving spots in Labuan? Sorry for my ignorance towards more Malaysia's diving site.

I just booked a trip in August in hopes of diving in Labuan. Any suggested DC bro? What are the rates?

Sunset normally you go down while there is light then come up when it is dark.
You get to see more fish activity during the sunset period as that is the time when fish are actively feeding.

Mine padi and got straight away after last day course. Or at least they will have temp card.
My friend from KL want to join scuba trip in KK next week, if he doing it before that will he be able to get lesen straight away with SDI? (Why sdi? Its cheaper he said) (cant do the ow in KK , limited time)

Beginner here. Plan to get a BCD, as few times went to dive, the rent BCD size not fit which cause the dive not enjoyable.

Some of my diver friend recommended Donut, but some don't recommend it with the reason can get neutral buoyancy.

Someone recommended MARES MAGELLAN WING BCD. How was it?

i'm sourcing for a dive comp currently... one hand, i'm thinking of an all in one comp with fitness tracking (i think only garmin has this), while on the other hand, get the cheapest dive comp and have a separate daily watch (am using huawei gt2e now)...

what's advice on this ya? i see most DC need battery replacement vs rechargeable batt. Am currently using mares smart on loan from friend. Its ok but i wish it had wireless data transmission for easier dive logging.

Heard that the fatality at Redang last Saturday was a 27 yr old girl - OW with about 10 dives. Diving in a group of 1 DM and 8 divers of which 4 were newbies. Don’t know anything other than that.

I'm in the market for a new fin... Narrowed down to Apeks RK3 & Deep6 Eddy.. My criteria is vented fins aka jetfin style but at a much lighter weight.

Online I read some say RK3 too flexible, some say good.. Am abit confused. Mainly using for recreational dive. I wear size 11 shoe. Dive with 3mm bootie. Scubapro jetfin XL feels tight for me around the top... Always get cramps after 1 hour dive... Worse if its 3 dive a day..

Any place can try RK3 & Eddy together? At least can judge it back to back.

Newbie here, I will be visiting Redang for my Open Water Course soon.
I have been think to get a rash guard (for sun protection purposes), do you guys think it's necessary to get one for myself?

Unfortunately many scuba accidents like these have a sequence of:

1) Dive starts ok
2) Diver gets separated from the others
3) ???
4) Diver drowns

It's the "???" that's troublesome because nobody's around to answer what happened at that point.

I cannot be the judge if there was any misconduct done by the DM or DC but the diver was a certified diver. As a certified diver you are certified to dive without a DM.
We need to understand that a DM is just a guide to show you around and point you aquatic life as an added service. That is why in some countries the dive guide is not even a DM certified diver.

Never liked diving in group more than 8, preferably 4-6. Too big, too many people blocking the view and making too much havoc.

Tank banger also doesn't mean you can get someone attention, many blur buddies and DM also.
In good visibility I bang tank like mad and also flashed torchlight... also cannot get some people attention.
e.g buddy swim in wrong direction - trying to get buddy attention, buddy missing and i wanted to get DM attention, eqp developed a leak and wanted to inform DM.

I need to swim and pull the fellow only he/she realize.

So basically if you get into emergency, then it's a matter of luck already. Hopefully someone realize you're in need of assistance.

police are investigating the cause also, especially on why was she allowed to go for her 2nd dive alone

there were some speculations, but nothing concrete yet

Initial "speculation" was that there weren't enough tank reserves for everyone for a 2nd dive, only left one tank, so she went in solo

another "speculation" was that she wasn't going down for receational diving, but spear fishing, hence the buddy system wasn't strictly enforced

last "speculation" was there wasn't a DM with them during the trip.
Anyway, whatever the speculation or the real cause are, a precious life is lost, dive safe everyone

aparently the boat they hired also are unlicensed, the boat operator kena saman already

Was hoping someone know the autopsy conclusion.

Did she pass away underwater thru drowning, suggesting an equipment malfunction, running out of air.

Or did she surface, but boat wasn't there due to strong current and she pass away due to exposure to the elements.
