Let me introduce myself. I'm from BP and working in KL. I started with Pearl 2 years ago in my 4x2x2 tank. But it went to heaven when grew to 14". Its head got some bubbles and stop eating small fish or worm for 5 months. only eat fish food. Now the small fish occupy the tank and grow to 3-4'. I'm thinking of getting another arowana. Hopefully can get some info from you guys.

how does this happen, any SIFU can explain?

Many many years ago my eldest brother used to rear Toman Harimau & Bunga both in diff tanks, they ate
crickets, life fish, fat worms from our garden and ate about 10 frogs each at one go, till my Mum complain
dam "geli" seeing the frogs, so we changed.....chicken & mutton..and what ever else was in the fridge shocking.gif

shocking rite, but true, Toman will eat anything (in between no meals about 3-4 days) they grew so fast
we had to change 3 tanks in 1 year, last one measuring 6x3x4...madness.....gave 1 away as the female died, while
the other an Uncle took over (think ended up in the rice pot)...

icon_rolleyes.gif

Currently Ozzie still not eating, so maybe later might change the water(20%)...and see ho wit goes from there... wink.gif

me i will get rm3 froggies = 9frogs and rm4 worms = 60 worms....

1.buy the feeders and place them into small pastic aquariums
2. fill water into the frog tank about 0.5cm to keep them alive and fresh
3. pour some AZOO 9 in 1 stick into the worm tank
4. Feeding timetable morning 1 frog (7.30am)....5-8 worms (6.00pm).......1 frog (12.00am)
5. by day 3-4 the worms are filled with goodness from the AZOO stick

good tip, thanks...will practice this when my Aro is slightly bigger..... rclxms.gif

Err...actually where is the position of the tank?

Sometimes the position of the tank playing a big part to our aro's conditions
tank near walking area can make them in trauma's condition

fill the tank with water at least 90% & see how he's doing
no need to put any deco inside
*
Based on the pics i posted earlier, it is placed at a high traffic area, car porch, icon_question.gif i hve no choice as
I already have 3 tanks inside my house, and my wife "sian kowkow" to have another inside, thast why placed there,
besides its for "feng-shui" purposes too thumbup.gif currently NO deco and water is at 90%... icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(c0c0nut @ Mar 2 2008, 10:57 AM)
cover the tank with newspaper...try feeding like normal.....close abt 1-2 months

thanks for the tip bro, much appreciated... rclxms.gif

Hi Guys,

Guess due to my own stupidity, my tank now has greenish water look (algae?)
this could be due to the fact the tank is outside visible to hot sun. have taken
COCO advise and closed up the tank with an old curtain, but am still worried about
the "algae" look, will this hurt my Aro in anyway? cry.gif

Any recommendations to remove algae, except removing the tank to a better place? blush.gif
Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

p/s the pics of Coco's Aro so dam kow cun.... thumbup.gif

Algae grows becoz of exposure to the sun light. You can move your tank if you wanted. Else you can buy a UV Sterilizer or buy some bandaraya fish or Fei Feng and put it in your tank. Fei Feng is the best algae eater.  thumbup.gif
*
Moving will be a problem, I hve to "remove" 3 tanks from inside to outside whistling.gif which is the deal with my wife sweat.gif
so will go look for this "Fei Feng" fishy as my "budget" for buying stuffs (UV Sterilizer) for the tank has been slashed by 100% cry.gif
hehehe...nak bagi bini happy punyer pasal, what to do, am a good "loh-kong" maa... rclxms.gif

thanks for the advise... thumbup.gif btw, Fei Feng can get along with Aro's?

QUOTE(c0c0nut @ Mar 5 2008, 04:34 PM)
algae will not hurt your aro....rotten food will....anyway throw 2-3 bandaraya to clean algae on the wall and for water algae get uv light....9W good enough
*
food?..nothing at the bottom wor or in the tank, so far the Eheim pump i bought is doing a swell job icon_rolleyes.gif
will check again later when i head home...thanks bro.... thumbup.gif

Hi Guys & Gals(sry dunno got or not).

found out why my Aro doesn't want to eat the Multi stick & mealworms liow,
seems that at night, where the tank is, there is a porch light which attracts BUGs,
so loads of bugs will kamakazie into the tank via the open holes at the top, and he
has been feeding on them, non stop every night especially when it rains am horrified icon_question.gif shocking.gif doh.gif rclxub.gif

Saw him eating non-stop last night, couldn't do anything to stop him, have scooped up most of the bugs,
so late last night covered all the hole, left few open, how guys, does this effect the Aro in any way? cry.gif

nah. its alright. aros get bored with food fed to them sometimes. let it eat the bugs. as long as its nt poisonous.
it would nt harm the fish. could save you some cash also.  brows.gif
thanks bro, much appreciated, feeling much better now sweat.gif think in the past 2 weeks or so
Ozzie has grown 1 1/2 inches, cuz he does look slightly bigger, dunno IF its the bugs tongue.gif
anyways, he is back to eating the multi sticks and mealworms as well.... thumbup.gif

to those who posted their tank set-ups thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

  hmm.gif  :hmm:Yup, there is
be careful coz jardini eat a lot, if feeding superworms, try count how much u feed him everyday
keep it with that amount, for example, 10-12 s/worms
that guy still small & the chance getting dropped eye is there, so beware

dropped eye = not beautiful maaaa

icon_rolleyes.gif ok, point taken, icon_rolleyes.gif
