Seriously I think Huawei E5186s-22a is overated. I'm perfectly happy now with Huawei B310As-852. Way cheaper than 5186, no carrier aggregation. But can connect to LTE band 3/7 and 8.

Consistently at least 20Mbps. It's nothing to shout about, but more than enough for average user like me.
*
E5186 is not overated. The problem is on digi/ISP side.
A good LTE-A for digi, can reach to 100M out of 145(10+10mhz) - 180M(10+15mhz) speed.

And it depends on you or the users deem how much speed is enough for you.

I am glad that LTE-A for my home is stable at 60-80M, and max at 110M.

Which mean it memang like this ?
Anyway to make it faster ?

Change to another server. Digi's routing to your current server is not nice, or your server is congested.

Speed ok, modem won't too hot, signal is good, battery around 6-8h.

did you ever try to power on 790S without battery ?
*
I tested for you.
Yes it works.
Downloaded 8gb in 30mins, no restart no weird connection.
Something surprised me, without battery the signal increased (maybe battery do not cover the signal) and modem is cooler (around 38-42c estimate)

Tele2 cannot use telephony function while Telia can.
By the way, how do I disable the IPv6? It doesn't work well with some of my sites. It's enabled by default.
*
Change APN to IPv4 only, or disable IPv6 in your network card config.

Because 3g can either have voice or data. You can't have both.
*
3G can have both together. But digi has problem, the data is only works after few mins during calls.

Oh is it? My data don't work as long as  I am in call. I am actually using infinite 150 in a phone.
*
Yup, i purposely tested it.
Connection is back about 2-3mins. And only 2mbps speed.

is it limited by hardware or firmware? any possibility to mod this out?
*
If you dare, you may try flash with-22 firmware. Maybe can unlock it.
But antenna design may not same for different variant, even chipset is same.
You may have weird or weak connection even you can connect it.

Couldn't agree more. at least i still have my streamyx to fall back when digi is congested, although that beats the purpose of using digi as replacement for streamyx.
Was told by technician recently that unifi is going to available in my area soon, but i will never take their words seriously.  tongue.gif

I am using 790s now. Super satisfy with it.
If i put the modem outside, off peak time it could reach 110m, while peak hour 30m.
Before this was using E3372, speed was 50m off peak, and 20m peak hour.
And LTE-A increased stability for gaming experience. No connection spike as much as single band only.

Anyone here able to enable PPTP or L2TP connection using another router with i150? The purpose is to get a public IP from VPN.
It seems to be blocked. I tested with Unifi and no problem.
*
Almost all mobile telco block this. And i confirm digi and maxis blocked it.
Use openvpn.

VoLTE need hardware + software + config/setting to make it work.
If you phone is supported but not able to connect it, it means the modem file is not there.

There is a mbn file inside the system:

either /system/etc/customization/modem/
or /system/etc/firmware/
or /system/rfs/apq/gnss/readonly/firmware/image/modem_pr/mcfg/configs/mcfg_sw/generic/sea/

If you see something XXX_DIGI_XXXX.mbn, congrats your device is supported.

Means the hardware/phone maker need to ask DiGi what is the configuration and then put into their firmware during upgrade. Very specific support needed.
*
Yes, and if you have root, you can try to modify it.

This is example my phone support Singapore telco but not available for Malaysia telco.

But I still need to have correct model right? I can't simply flash it to any phone. Or modem.
That's because DiGi did not update their website.
*
Either you can copy from other phone, or find other telco mdn file and rename it. A nearest setting may work for our telco.

Try at own risk and no guarantee it works.

What band are you on?
Install network cell info app on your phone and look for cell towers nearby. Aim your antenna towards those cell towers, check from huawei toolbox, the Cell-ID. Note the congested cell towers. Restart CPE regularly whenever you detect that the congested cell towers are connected.

I can detect about 4 cell towers at a 120degree angle from my balcony. There are cell towers around 1-2km from my balcony. The best one is the furthest. It is located around a lesser populated area and also near a highway.

2 of them are shit, Band3/7, 1 of them works great at Band3, 1 of them at band7. Whenever I find that the bad cell tower is connected, I restart the CPE and most of the time, the good cell tower is connected.

Upgrading to Lte-A is costly and does not reliably yield good results
Best method, most of us here find, is still tweaking between band 3 / band 7, and adding the MIMO antenna.
*
Wireless network very depending to many factors. And i don't think upgrade to LTE-A is costly. My current setup 790s (around rm280) did a good job. Of course i add another mi router mini (rm100) to increase better performance.
Most of the time, it double my LTE modem speed.
But during super peak hour, the speed is not much improved but it is not the modem fault.
Overall, stability is much improved with LTE-A.

i150 will refund the extra if you terminated the account before it offset. I know someone already got his cheque.

Digi very like to say upgrading network. Everytime i complain they also tell me same story.
Even one time, my signal was interrupted by thunderstorm, they told me it was maintenance. I asked who in charge that, is it Thor.
And one time, they also told me network upgrade. And i found they just copy&paste, and forgot to edit the statement to my location. It is still [XXXXX], and it should rename to my location. I blamed him a copy paste machine, he mad on me, and kept saying he is professional.

if like that, do you have idea, how to protect our consumer right? As i know, only SKMM this channel to let our consumer voice up and complain only....
*
You can file complain to SKMM for telco issue. You may get solution, or some rebate to your bill.
But don't put too much hope on that if you didn't tie with contract. Because you are free to run, no one force you to use their service.

Must be place dependent.. My place not even a LTE-A covered area but still can capture the signal n force it to lock to 4G+
In my case I'm using Samsung phone tethered to tp-link router.. At perfect place and angle I am able to capture both B3 and B7 to use lte-a.. E5186 is a powerful CPE and I believe it has more capability than my Samsung phone.. Just need to find the sweet spot for it
*
Not sure, my phone and modem hardly connected to lte-a during 8pm to late night. Other than that, it can connect it easily. But i switch single band to b3 or b7, it has no problem. Just won't join them both.
