What is your signal strength to both of the bands? If the signal of B7 is weak and it is going to get worst when it is congested so CA will not work.

I guess there are not so bad.

Conclusion is, netgear will give good performance for the half price of Huawei modem/router within the similar specs.
*
Cannot really direct compare with a CPE. But AC790s is impressive.
Before i used it, i always thought mifi may not stable, heat issue, and battery problem. But it totally different what i thought. It is very stable, no heat at all, and can use without battery. But i cannot compare the performance with huawei CPE because i don't have it.
For sure, the wifi range is a weakness, but i use another xiaomi router, flashed rooter firmware. Much advance function that unbeatable by any cheap home router or CPE.
The only weakness is it cannot support phone call.
But the price is cheap, 790s rm280 + mi router rm100.
Overall, i super satisfied with AC790s. Just digi a bit disappointed me.

Ok, what about ipv6?
Have you tried accessing ipcamera/anything that normally requires portforwarding with digi?

Also, no heat issues over pro long use?
Can I'm having definitely having it on 24/7 a week
I just had some doubts about it before since it's still just mifi & probably not for extended use.
*
The modem comes with ipv6.
BUT, i have trouble to do port forward with ipv6.
If i use the mifi, the local ip is ipv4.
If i use router, i found no way to bridge it as ipv6. So far i still have no solution for this issue.
But heat is never an issue. The first 2 days when i got the modem, i downloaded 100gb without any problem. The temperature is stable, almost no increase.

So you're saying with this setup, the clients only get ipv4?

Mifi (ipv6) -> client (ipv4)

Or this?

Mifi (ipv6) -> another router as repeater(ipv4) -> client (ipv4)
So no difference in terms of specs right? I don't really care about sms

blacktubi Have you successfully remote access anything on digi's ipv6?
*
The first one.
But my issue is more like

Mifi (IPv4) > Router (IPv6). The mifi won't assign IPv6 to router.
I was using usb tethering method, mean direct usb plug into router.
I switched the protocol to some other IPv6 setting, but no connection. Only work with Dymanic IPv4.

The second method is a no for me, i am not a fans of repeater, i feel it caused more unstable and increase ping. So i didn't try it.

So for those want using IPv6, i suggest CPE unit for less issue.

I was trying out hotspot from my phone (APN set to ipv6 only), and also no internet connection. I wonder if there's extra stuff need to be configured with ipv6
So the Mifi is on ipv4/ipv6 then?
Well them, I'll pick the cheapest one
Technically you don't have to portforward anything right with ipv6?
If you have several service running on raspberry pi like couchpotato on port 8010 or transmission on port 8015.
Just need to type the ipv6 address and add the port then to access them?

What if it's like this

ipv6 router/modem ---> camera 1 2001:0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334:8001
                            ----> camera 2 2003:0db8:85a3:0000:0030:8a2e:0370:7335:8003
                            ----> raspberry pi 2004:0db8:85a3:0000:0040:8a2e:0370:7336:8005

I'm just listing out the ipv6 address randomly, I'm not sure about valid example

Since using dns service binds a specific ip address, does that mean each device needs to run a different dns service?
With ipv4, it's usually just the main ip gets redirected to DNS and just need to add port number to access any service running on it

Honestly, I'm still noob about ipv6, so just need some clarification here
*
The mifi is supporting ipv6.
I direct connect it with wifi, i can use it.
But when using usb tethering with router, it is not.

Actually i got a problem like this:
My phone using 5ghz wifi, speedtest 20m.
My tab using 2.4ghz wifi, speedtest 5m.
My laptop using LAN cable, speedtest 10m.
I don't know is it under traffic shaping or just hardware problem.
(All test during super peak hour 8-10pm).

I suspect traffic shaping because it only happen during super peak hour. Normal time usually all of devices are same high speed.
And if it is hardware problem, Lan should not limited to 10m only. That's why it is weird.

Netgear Airfare AC790s can also pair with old legend router Tplink Tl-mr3420 v2 flashed with openwrt rooter goldenorb. No setting needed. Just plug n play. Remove the battery and cover. Make sure you off the ac790s wifi . Speed is incredible steady and lots wider Wi-Fi coverages...Those of you who still have this router, it is useful again.. powerful combo like what wc_how stated.
*
I am using Mi mini, much better combo, and super cheap price.
RM93 for the router only (from lazada + shopback + voucher code + credit card rebate biggrin.gif)

why ya have to use another router? netgear's wifi not kuat lor?or the wifi's coverage widening?
*
1. Openwrt has much advanced enterprise grade router's functions.
2. It has better CPU & memory, better performance to handle higher speed & more devices.
3. Better coverage.
4. Stable and durable.

And i personally like modem + router, more than a mifi.

I am actually trying to help because by having user using below 200-300gb, congestion will be less in DiGi network and also user will not be capped. You are making thing worse by encouraging user to use more than 1tb by giving those ridiculous suggestion like sharing data with friend when hanging out. Stop it already.
I also would like to suggest that your 6 kid not watching too much YouTube. Not good.
If you use more than 1tb, please use unifi or Streamyx...
*
LOL, why this topic again?
A tower can support hundreds or even thousands of users. It won't conngested just by one or few heavy users. Even before unlimited plan, every telco are also facing congested issue, what do you say about this? Advise user who has 5gb plan use only 2gb, and tolerence with other users?

This is totally not the customer problem. Why the customers want to limited by the weakness of the provider? If they do not afford to provide unlimited quota, don't provide it, as customer, i appreciate they do, but i didn't force them. This is an open market, digi provide the plan because market want it, and we pay what digi can afford to us.

Since issues come out, the persons need to take care and responsible are the telco themselves, not customers. Many things they can do like: upgrade the towers, traffic control during peak & congested hour, caching popular contents like facebook, youtube, blocking illegal contents. The worst, if these are not the solutions, stop over-sell the plan. Do some market survey and also their hardware capabilities. When a tower only support 10000 users, warn the registration if it reach 8000. Do let users know they may face congestion issue if they take the plan.

And recommend other users to use 200gb per month, for unlimited(or at least 1tb) plan is funny. For example, shopping centre's parking is full during weekend. I recommend you park only 2 hours, to make it fair and tolerence to other driver who cannot find parking. I guess you will think i am crazy.

Well I am trying to help people not to be capped by DiGi.
Buffet also unlimited. Do you ask your friend and enjoy the buffet with you without paying?
*
Believe me, you (or us) won't change anything to digi. Stop making some ridiculous sugguestions. As a telco & business owner, digi will try their best to utilise their network. You know why digi keep extending the i150, because they think they are not yet utilising it yet.
Even all the users follow your suggestions, reduces the usage, digi will thanks to you, they allowed to sell their bandwidth to more users without upgrading it.

I will not further comment this issue, and let digi to handle it themselves.

The Netgear Aircard AC790s  could be 1 of the cheapest CAT 6 device which support 4G+ in the market. However, just to double check, will this device indicate 4G+ when connected to 4G+ network or no matter connected to 4G or 4G+ it will show 4G only?
*
Modem doesn't show 4G+.
But telnet it can see both connected tower in detail.

Netgear Aircard AC790s  get more interesting for sure .
Finally can select which band we want it to connect no matter on the mifi lcd screen, or from the Netgear app or from the web ui. For sure now it is direct N powerful. Need to thanks to my Seller who did this all for me.
P/s: I am not helping seller advertising, just wantedto give credit to my seller and also share Netgear is possible to band config is lots easier way without the toolbox like huawei
[attachmentid=9079390][attachmentid=9079389][attachmentid=9079388]

My area Digi band 3 also increase from 10Mhz to 15Mhz now.. speed is huge different.this is band 3 speed alone

This is band 7 speed

This is my new band 3 + 7 CA direct config speed

As for my area band 8 speed wise nothing to shout about.
So 4G+ LTE-A is different than 4G LTE for sure. Very satisfying now for this Netgear mifi.
*
Very love this modem.
So far only downside found is, 5ghz wifi will be very consuming battery and uncomfortable heat.
And something bad is, my area has problem to connect 4g+ during peak hour.
But great is, with the 15mhz b3, it alone can reach to 80m, and 4g+ can reach 145m max now, out of 180m digi max speed.
