I've just bought the Huawei Router, E5186-22a, previously I was using E5186-61a which doesn't work with the CA and it seems to be very low for the speed. After I've switched or exchanged to the -22a, it seems to be better of course I bought for RM850 though, saw in taobao a lot cheaper =/ but yeah.

Question though, how do I change the setting for the antenna? Ive just flashed the firmware to Imt but still couldn't find the changing antenna to external/internal as I'm planning to buy a stronger one.

Thanks!
*
e5186 dont need to set anything for antenna. just plug and play.

mind sharing which antenna u planned to buy?

Cos I tested myself with 4g sim and 4g phone. Whenever I am inside my house, do not have line at all. No point using digi infinite when have zero coverage indoor. However if I am outside house, full LTE is available.
*
If can get full LTE outside, u can try check the signal at your windows area.

My house also like that, if i put the modem in the middle of the house, sure kaput one. So i put it at window area, problem solve.

Ya i think i will stay with celcom as well since the unlimited speed is capped at 5mbps. must be damn slow.
*
because of that, most of us all here choose i150 over i80/i100.

what is "unlimited" quota with capped speed to 5mb only ceh.

It's pretty much on the borderline between green and yellow zone when I checked using network cell app. This was the best I got so far, around 7Mbps. But this is right beside my bed, don't think I would want to place the modem right beside me sweat.gif

[attachmentid=9140014]

Under digi's coverage map it says the outside should be covered with LTE-A/4G+, but the phone I'm using now does not support it so can't really test coverage for that.
*
how about outside?

try it outside and see how fast u can get.

placing modem beside the correct windows is one of the best tips available

Hi Dear Sifus,  thumbup.gif

I just bought myself the Digi Infinite 150, and was thinking of getting either the Huawei E5186 22a or 61a.
these routers have a R11J telephone port.

My Questions are.

1) Can i use my normal landline TM house phone and plug in here and call and receive calls? If no, what type of phone can i use? To call in and call out?

2) If i want to increase my Digi Signal to increase speed, can i use a external antenna with this router? if so could you suggest some good ones? the cable will be quite long to place it on my roof, would this in anyway affect anything due to the distance of the cable?

3) besides the bandwidth of the 22a and 61a, is there any other difference for me to buy either one? i saw one was around Rm 600 and the other rm 800?

I appreciate any sifus who could tell me more on this matter.

Much thanks,  thumbsup.gif
GriMmiE
*
1: Can. Just set the router setting to 4G preferred and never set it to 4G only.
2: Can, e5186 have 2x SMA port and yes longer cable will decrease the signal per meter if im not wrong.
3: Avoid the 61a because it cannot LTE-A in malaysia, so no use buy e5186 at first place. Just keep the 22a in your list.

Thanks Sifu Ajoi57,

May i ask if this router can control broadband speed for users i specific under a IP? or have Qos options? If no can anyone recommend a similar router with simcard that can do this and has a telephone port? or any other way i can achieve this? i want to make sure one person doesnt hog the download speed from downloading a large file
*
I cant find the Qos option in the router. So maybe u need to connect it to another router to set it up. I tried using 3rd party apps once, seems working but need to add it everytime, Too much hassle.

And u must know, when got call in or making call out, the line will automatically change to 3G; and for many user at many place, 3G speed is more to unusable.

How gooding digi speed at your area? indoor/outdoor?

Ayam not a sifu, just bro me

Lol ok ok Bro  biggrin.gif

So you have the router. nice ok. So there is no way i can do broadband control. pity.  you mention the 3rd party app. you said need to add it everytime. means every day?

i did think about trying to connect another router with that by using that router as a repeater or AP i wonder if it would work, the from that router give out another set of DHCP IPs to control the speed.

Im currently using TP-LINK 300Mbps Wireless N 4G LTE Router on the infinite 150.
i get around 12mbps no higher than this.

you mention when you make calls it drops to 3G, how long does it take to get back to 4G? or it wont? you need to reset the router?
GriMmiE
*
Yup already using it for few month. I read the e5186 spec at some forum, they said the e5186 got QoS feature, but i cant find it anywhere in WEBui.

I believe u can connect e5186 to another router, i think got pipul do that for stronger WiFi connection. Need other to halp on this.

Already try change place? U need to play around with your modem, search for stronger signal to gain more speed.

Wow that's fast, you bought a new sim pack or using your current simpack?

Because my line was newly MNP from umobile to Digi within 30 days, so I am not sure if this is the reason that I am not able to change to infinite 150.
*
if u convert to digi postpaid 50, u need to wait 1 month to change to i150.

i think the waiting time is applicable to other digi pospaid too

*
i dont think digi postpaid 50 is new one.

but the 1 month waiting time to change plan to i150 is new biggrin.gif

change to prepaid then change to i150 maybe can if u dont have problem to pay the rm318.

if u can change plan at first place la. maybe just wait till 1 month end then change to i150

Im just gonna put a external antenna to get better signal and speed. i did try it on my handphone outisde. can get up to 20+mbps.

waiting his reply so i can look into that  biggrin.gif

what speeds are you getting?
GriMmiE
*
your current modem got antenna slot?

if yes, then u can try buy the cheap antenna and see how it helps Link as example

digi currently upgrading(hopefully) at my area since the upload speed drop from 9-11mb to 2-4mb.

Hey Bro,

wow your speed is quite bad in your area. the location i want to put it is quite isolated and i get around 8-12 mbps and my upload speed around 9-15mbps.
where is your location ?

Yeah of course it has antennas biggrin.gif have you tried this mimo antenna on your setup ? its quite cheap.

GriMmiE
*
yep. before that i usually get more. and yes im currently using that cheap antenna.

planning to buy poynting antenna, but must cod in SG one. so i postpone the plan first

highest i ever get is 50mb on some morning, after that terus kaput cry.gif

but still faster than my 2mb stimmix, and my download speed can steady around 1.6mb/ps so im currently ok with it

QUOTE(northernhero @ Sep 18 2017, 04:19 PM)
Because after I changed to Digi 50 only I realize that my data utilization is more than I thought. (Umobile has free data for Waze and Spotify which contribute to majority of my data usage, but the coverage sucks big time).

Besides, I think the upfront payment need to be paid sooner or later isn't it?
*
oh i see.

wait 1 month ended u must then biggrin.gif

ya still must pay, just some pipul die die dowan pay the 2 month in advance laugh.gif
